Frequently Asked Questions

Mr Glass runs a deep catalog, and we install across most of it. On the residential side that means impact windows in single-hung, horizontal-roller (sliding), fixed picture, and casement and awning styles, plus a full range of doors: entry and outswing doors, architectural pivot doors, and sliding glass doors including the multitrack pocket slider. They also build a commercial line of impact and non-impact storefronts, window walls, curtain walls, glass railings, and aluminum louvers that we handle on light-commercial projects. We help you match the right Mr Glass product to each opening and pull the matching approval for your county.

Most of the line is, but it depends on the specific product. Mr Glass's premium residential windows are dual-certified to both Large Missile Impact (LMI) and Small Missile Impact (SMI), which covers them for high-rise and coastal work anywhere in the High-Velocity Hurricane Zone of Miami-Dade and Broward. Their value-tier windows and all of their doors carry the impact certification needed for the HVHZ as well, and a couple of commercial products (the MG-275 door and MG-4500 storefront) are non-impact and are not used in the wind-borne-debris zone. We confirm the exact product, rating, and approval for your address before we quote and permit.

They are made in South Florida. Mr Glass manufactures out of four facilities in the Medley and Miami Lakes area of northwest Miami-Dade County, including its own in-house aluminum powder-coating plant. It is an independent, single-region manufacturer rather than a national brand, which means the products are engineered and built specifically for the South Florida hurricane market we install in.

Florida Product Approval (an FL number) is the statewide certification under the Florida Building Code; a Miami-Dade NOA is the stricter county-level approval that the HVHZ in Miami-Dade and Broward holds products to. Most Mr Glass products carry Florida Product Approval, and a Florida-approved impact product is generally accepted in the HVHZ under the building code. A few carry both, like the MG-500 commercial impact door, which holds a Florida approval plus a Miami-Dade NOA, the belt-and-suspenders cert that some large Miami-Dade institutional jobs specifically require. We pull the right approval for your jurisdiction and handle the permit.

Yes. The MG-1100 is a multitrack pocket sliding glass door, built with three tracks and six panels so the panels slide back and tuck into a pocket in the wall, leaving a fully open indoor-outdoor connection rather than the fixed panel a standard two-track slider always leaves in place. It is impact-rated and HVHZ-capable, which makes it well suited to waterfront and view-corridor homes that want a wall of glass that genuinely disappears. Mr Glass also offers a premium two-track slider (MG-1000) for tall openings and a value-tier slider (MG-1500); we size the panel layout to your opening and confirm it clears the wind load for your location. You can preview slider configurations in our Window and Door Designer and Visualizer.

They use laminated impact glass, which bonds two panes of glass to a tough interlayer so the unit resists wind-borne debris and stays in the frame if it is struck, which is what lets it pass hurricane testing. Glass thickness and the exact package are matched to the product, the size, and the wind load on the opening, with insulated laminated options available where added thermal performance matters. Premium products are rated for higher design pressures than the value tier, so the right glass spec depends on your opening; we confirm it on the quote.

The main reasons are catalog depth and a Miami-made, HVHZ-focused product line. Because Mr Glass builds windows, sliding and entry doors, and even commercial storefronts and railings under one roof, you can often source the whole home from a single line, which simplifies the look and the warranty path. Their products are engineered for the South Florida hurricane zone, and the premium windows carry dual LMI and SMI impact ratings for high-rise and coastal exposure. As your installer, we handle the measurement, permitting, and inspection, and we will tell you honestly where another brand in our catalog is the better fit for your project and budget.
