Mr Glass vs PGT, Mr Glass vs ES Windows, ES vs PGT: the searches arrive in every pairing, and the honest answer needs all three brands on one page. We install across this field, and each of these manufacturers occupies a genuinely different corner of the Florida impact market. This guide maps the corners so you can put your project in the right one.
For the pairwise deep dive on the two biggest, our ES Windows vs PGT comparison goes further on that matchup; our PGT review and ES Windows review cover each alone. This page adds the brand the other two comparisons leave out.
The short answer: Mr Glass for pocket walls, custom color, and commercial-grade work; PGT for breadth, vinyl, and warranty paper; ES Windows for speed and value. Each with its honest trade-off:
| Brand | Pick it for | Trade-off to accept |
|---|---|---|
| Mr Glass | Multitrack and pocket doors, custom powder-coat color, commercial storefront | Hinged doors are large-missile-only (the ~30-ft HVHZ line); modest brand recognition |
| PGT | Catalog breadth, mature vinyl, transferable warranty | Longest typical lead times of the three; premium pricing |
| ES Windows | 5-6 week lead times, features standard, specialty glass formats | Thinner warranty terms; young vinyl line |
If one requirement dominates: a disappearing glass wall points to Mr Glass, a deadline points to ES, and vinyl frames or resale paper point to PGT.

The Certification Fine Print
All three brands build HVHZ-approved impact products. The differences live in the details, and one of them is decisive for certain projects.
A quick decoder first. Large-missile impact (LMI) testing fires a nine-pound 2x4 at the product, simulating ground-level debris; small-missile impact (SMI) testing fires steel balls at higher speed, simulating the gravel and fragments that fly at elevation. Florida's HVHZ rules require large-missile protection up to 30 feet above grade and small-missile protection above that line, which is why a product's missile certification quietly decides which floors it can serve.
Missile ratings. Mr Glass dual-certifies its premium windows and all three sliding-door lines (MG-1000, MG-1100, MG-1500) for large and small missile per their current Florida approvals. Its hinged doors, the outswing French, entry, and pivot lines, are large-missile-only, and in HVHZ jurisdictions large-missile-only products are limited to roughly 30 feet above grade. That fine print takes Mr Glass swing and pivot doors out of higher floors of taller buildings, where PGT and ES field options; sliders are unaffected, and single-family and low-rise work never meets the limit.
Approval documents. PGT and ES carry Miami-Dade NOAs across their impact lines. Mr Glass certifies its residential range through statewide Florida Product Approvals (38 of them), holding Miami-Dade NOAs on two commercial products. As with EAS

, state HVHZ approvals are a valid permitting basis everywhere in Florida, and in Mr Glass's home county its paperwork is a daily fixture; but NOA-templated specs favor the brands that hold them. Verify any model's approval in the Florida Product Approval database.
Design pressures. ES Elite's +80/-80 standard is the highest volume-line floor of the three. PGT's flagship SGD reaches +90/-110 and its platform passes DP 100 for high-rise. Mr Glass's commercial storefront tops the whole table at DP 145, with residential lines specced per model; that 145 PSF (the MG-6000 storefront) is the single highest design pressure in our three-brand spec database as of August 2026. Any of the three clears typical single-family loads; the spec sheets decide the edge cases.
Colors, Finishes, and Glass
Frame color is a real differentiator in this trio. Mr Glass owns its powder-coating plant, which translates to custom color capability that most competitors outsource; for architectural projects chasing a specific RAL color, that in-house line is the shortest path. PGT answers with its four-finish standard palette (white, bronze, black, clear anodize) across WinGuard Aluminum, and ES makes Kynar-class coatings standard where others charge for them.
Glass tells a similar story three ways: all three laminate over heat-strengthened lites with Low-E options, ES coats its own glass in-house, PGT runs its EnergyShield package ladder, and Mr Glass publishes energy-value tables per SKU. If the look is the decision, our Window and Door Designer and Visualizer renders frame colors on a photo of your home before any brand meeting.
Lead Times and Logistics
ES's 5-6 week lead time, powered by Tecnoglass integration, is the published benchmark of the group; PGT orders typically run about 10-12 weeks. Mr Glass manufactures everything in metro Miami, which keeps its logistics local and its custom work close; production timing is quoted per order, and for South Florida projects the short truck route has saved more than one schedule when a panel needed remaking.
On service, the structural note for all three is the same one our warranties research keeps finding: manufacturers ship parts, dealers install them, and every warranty in this trio excludes installation labor. The installer you choose is the service plan.
Mr Glass vs PGT vs ES Windows Prices
Installed, the three brands land in the same per-style ranges at our shop: roughly $1,000-$2,000 for single hungs, $900-$2,200 for horizontal rollers, $1,200-$2,400 for picture windows, sliding glass doors from about $2,200 scaling by panel count, entry and French doors from $1,500-$6,500, and pivot doors from $2,200-$8,500. line are the two sharpest price points for aluminum single hungs; ES's standard-features bundle does its work in the glass and finish line items rather than the sticker.
Configuration moves totals more than brand choice does. A multitrack pocket wall, a frameless corner, or an oversized slider each carries its own price geometry, and those are exactly the formats where the three catalogs differ most. Warranties in One Table
We compared the actual warranty documents in our warranties guide; the three-way summary:
| Term | Mr Glass | PGT WinGuard | ES Windows |
|---|---|---|---|
| Frame | Per document; aluminum terms | Limited lifetime | Finish 10-15 years by coating |
| Hardware | Per document | 10 years (lifetime on vinyl) | 3 years |
| Maintenance condition | Quarterly washing; failure voids | Care required in salt environments | Quarterly documented professional cleaning |
| Installation coverage | Excluded (dealer responsibility) | Excluded (labor not covered) | Excluded (no labor) |
| Transfer to buyer | Per document | Yes: 10 years, 30-day notice | No |
| Registration | Via dealer portal | Encouraged | Required within 90 days or 1-year default |
The pattern across all three: parts, not labor; maintenance documented, not assumed; and the installer relationship carrying the claims experience. PGT's transferability and 25-year glass schedule keep it the strongest paper of the group.
Which Brand Fits Which Project
| Your project | Our pick | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Multitrack or pocket sliding wall | Mr Glass | MG-1100 to 3 tracks / 6 panels is the niche's benchmark |
| Whole-home aluminum on a budget | Mr Glass or PGT | MG-350 value tier and Sparta are the sharp price points |
| Vinyl frames anywhere | PGT | The only mature vinyl impact family of the three |
| Deadline-driven schedule | ES | 5-6 week lead times |
| Swing or pivot doors above ~30 ft in the HVHZ | PGT or ES | Mr Glass hinged doors are large-missile-only; its sliders carry dual certification |
| Frameless glass walls | ES Prestige | Butt-glazed impact is unique to ES |
| Commercial storefront / curtain wall | Mr Glass | The deepest commercial line here, to DP 145 |
| Strongest warranty and resale paper | PGT | Lifetime frame, 25-year glass schedule, transferable |
| Bilingual project team, Miami logistics | Mr Glass | Local plants, bilingual operation, direct architectural channel |
Read the table as a shape-matcher, not a ranking. A Coral Gables single-story with a pocket wall lands on Mr Glass without a second thought; a Parkland two-story chasing insulation lands on PGT vinyl; a Brickell condo above the 30-foot line rules one column out before price is discussed. The brands' overlap on ordinary openings is why our quotes often carry two logos.
Mixed-brand projects are normal for us: a Mr Glass pocket wall with PGT vinyl bedrooms, or ES specialty glass over a PGT base package. Each product permits under its own approval, so the mix costs nothing but a longer submittal list, and the finished project reads as one design because glass, not frame logos, is what a visitor sees.
An Installer's Bottom Line
Mr Glass earns its seat at this table on manufacturing depth and the door niches nobody else owns; its certification fine print just needs matching to the building. PGT remains the default answer when breadth, paper, and ecosystem decide. ES remains the speed-and-value answer with specialty formats as the bonus. None of the three is a wrong answer on a typical Florida home, which moves the real decision to your project's shape: the biggest opening, the frame material, the calendar, and the paperwork your jurisdiction prefers.
