About the Manufacturer

About Custom Window Systems

Custom Window Systems (CWS) is a Florida-based manufacturer of impact windows and doors, founded in 1986 and headquartered in Ocala with additional manufacturing facilities in Miami, Medley, and Jacksonville. CWS operates more than 700,000 square feet of Florida manufacturing capacity, positioning the brand as the Pella Corporation family's dedicated Florida impact specialist.

The CWS catalog covers four active product lines tuned to the Florida Building Code, including HVHZ-rated Miami-Dade and Broward installations. The flagship Hurricane Guard line spans both vinyl and aluminum impact configurations, joined by StormStrong (vinyl impact for non-HVHZ Florida zones), Fortify (aluminum non-impact built on the engineering platform formerly known as Lawson), and Comfort Shield (vinyl entry-tier non-impact).

CWS was the first Florida manufacturer to achieve ENERGY STAR certification on its windows, and the brand continues to invest in energy performance and structural depth across the catalog. Armor Pro installs CWS products across South Florida, with particular fit for projects where the Pella-backed warranty and Florida-engineered impact catalog are the deciding factors.

Our products are proudly made by Floridians for Floridians. When you choose CWS, you're choosing quality products and services you can stake your reputation on.

Frequently Asked Questions

CWS (Custom Window Systems) is a Florida manufacturer founded in 1986 and headquartered in Ocala, with additional plants in Miami, Medley, and Jacksonville totaling more than 700,000 square feet. Because the line is engineered and built in Florida around the state's hurricane code, the products are designed for our climate rather than adapted to it. We install and service CWS products throughout South Florida.

Yes. CWS is a Pella Corporation brand, acquired in 2018, and operates as Pella's Florida impact specialist. For a homeowner the practical upside is that CWS's warranties stand behind a large national parent, while the products themselves are still Florida-built. As your installer, we handle the order, permit, and installation regardless of the corporate structure.

CWS's HVHZ coverage centers on the aluminum Hurricane Guard line, which carries current Miami-Dade Notices of Acceptance (NOAs) across single-hung, slider, picture, casement, hinged door, and sliding glass door. The vinyl Hurricane Guard products carry Florida statewide approvals plus selected HVHZ coverage. StormStrong, Comfort Shield, and Aria are not HVHZ products, so for a Miami-Dade or Broward address we'll typically spec aluminum Hurricane Guard. Exact eligibility depends on the size and configuration, which we confirm on the quote.

A Florida Product Approval (FL#) covers installations across most of the state, while a Miami-Dade NOA is the stricter approval required inside the HVHZ, which is Miami-Dade and Broward counties. Some CWS products carry both, and on the aluminum Hurricane Guard line the two were refreshed together in a coordinated January 2024 filing. We pull the approval that matches your county and opening so the permit goes through cleanly.

Yes. Lawson Industries was retired on September 30, 2024, and its products and manufacturing moved into CWS, with the engineering platform now living on inside the CWS Fortify aluminum line. If you have Lawson windows or doors, CWS is now the manufacturer of record for warranty purposes. We can service those openings and tell you whether a repair or a like-for-like CWS replacement makes more sense.

We install the four active CWS residential lines plus the WeatherLite sunroom system. Hurricane Guard is the flagship impact line in aluminum and vinyl and is the HVHZ choice; StormStrong is entry-tier vinyl impact for coastal counties outside the HVHZ; Fortify is coastal-rated aluminum without impact glass; and Comfort Shield is inland vinyl non-impact. We match the line to your county's code requirement, your openings, and your budget during the consultation.

CWS publishes separate limited warranties for its aluminum and vinyl window and door products, with the warranties backed by parent Pella Corporation. Coverage terms depend on the specific product and how it's installed, so we go over the applicable warranty document with you before you order. As your installer, we also stand behind the workmanship of the installation itself.

CWS, Hurricane Guard, StormStrong, Fortify, Comfort Shield, and WeatherLite are trademarks of their respective owners.
