About Lawson Windows & Doors

Lawson Industries was a Medley, Florida aluminum impact window and door manufacturer with deep roots in the South Florida HVHZ market. On September 30, 2024, Lawson joined the CWS (Custom Window Systems) brand under the Pella Corporation umbrella. The Lawson engineering platform continues forward: the entire former Lawson product portfolio was rebranded as the CWS Fortify aluminum line, and Lawson aluminum impact production consolidated into the existing CWS Medley facility.

Homeowners with existing Lawson installations can continue to count on Lawson legacy warranties, which remain honored through CWS's service infrastructure. For service or warranty support on Lawson windows and doors, CWS maintains dedicated legacy contact lines (786-204-1013 or 866-875-5518).

Armor Pro previously installed Lawson products across South Florida and now installs the successor CWS Fortify line for new projects in the same coastal and HVHZ markets.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. Lawson Industries, the Medley, Florida impact-window maker, was retired on September 30, 2024, when it was absorbed into CWS Industries (Custom Window Systems) of Ocala. Both CWS and the former Lawson are part of Pella Corporation, so Lawson products and manufacturing moved under the CWS/Pella umbrella rather than disappearing. As an installer who worked with Lawson products for years, we can service existing Lawson windows and doors and explain what the change means for your home.

Lawson was a family-run South Florida manufacturer, established around 1960 and built out of a plant in Medley near Hialeah, that specialized in aluminum impact and non-impact windows and doors for the hurricane market. Its impact products were sold under the Hurricane Guard name, with a premium Platinum sub-tier and a non-impact Heritage line. The line was unusually well certified for a regional maker, carrying Florida Product Approvals and Miami-Dade Notices of Acceptance across single-hung, roller, casement, picture, sliding glass door, and French door, all tested to the Miami-Dade impact protocols.

Yes. We service and repair Lawson windows and doors across South Florida, including glass replacement, hardware, and weatherseal work where parts can still be sourced. Because the brand is retired, some original Lawson-specific parts are now harder to obtain and run through CWS rather than the old factory, so in some cases a like-for-like replacement of the unit is more practical than a repair. We will tell you honestly which path makes sense for your opening once we see it.

CWS Industries is now the manufacturer of record for former Lawson products, and the Lawson engineering platform lives on inside the CWS Fortify aluminum line. CWS continues to honor Lawson's legacy warranties through its own service infrastructure and maintains dedicated legacy support lines for Lawson owners (786-204-1013 or 866-875-5518). As your installer, we can help you find the right warranty document and coordinate a service claim through CWS.

No. Lawson's impact units were approved for the High Velocity Hurricane Zone (Miami-Dade and Broward) under Florida Product Approvals and Miami-Dade NOAs, and an installation that was permitted and approved stays code-compliant and remains valid for wind mitigation insurance credits even though the brand is retired. The original permit and product-approval records on file with your county do not change because the manufacturer was absorbed. If you ever need to document the original approval for an insurer or a future sale, we can help you identify the right series and approval number.

We install several current, fully approved impact window and door lines for South Florida, including the CWS Fortify aluminum line that carries forward the former Lawson engineering. The right choice depends on your county, your opening sizes, and whether you want aluminum or vinyl frames, so we spec a current HVHZ-approved system that matches or exceeds the rating of your original Lawson units. You can preview styles and finishes for a replacement project with our Window and Door Designer and Visualizer, and we confirm the exact approvals on the quote.

Lawson used a consistent numbering convention: a non-impact series and its impact twin differed by 200, so 7700 single-hungs, 8700 rollers, 9200 sliding glass doors, and 2200 or 2400 French doors are impact units, while the 7500, 8500, 9000, and 2000 series are non-impact. The number is usually stamped on the frame. If you are not sure what you have, we can identify the series during a site visit and tell you whether it carries an impact rating.
