About CGI Windows & Doors

CGI Windows & Doors helped pioneer the impact-resistant windows and doors industry in South Florida in the years following Hurricane Andrew, and spent nearly three decades as a go-to brand for architects, builders, and homeowners seeking premium hurricane protection. CGI was particularly known for its heavy-duty aluminum Sentinel, Estate, and Sparta lines built for the Miami-Dade and Broward HVHZ markets.

Following PGT's acquisition of CGI, the Sentinel and Estate lines were discontinued in October 2025, while the Sparta series continues forward under the PGT brand. Existing CGI installations remain supported: CGI legacy warranties are honored by PGT's service infrastructure, and legacy Miami-Dade NOAs remain valid through their individual expiration dates.

For homeowners shopping new installations today, PGT's Sparta and WinGuard lines are the closest contemporary fit to what CGI offered. Armor Pro installed CGI products for many years across South Florida and continues to support existing CGI installations while installing the successor PGT lines for new projects.

Frequently Asked Questions

Not as a CGI-branded product. CGI was acquired by PGT (now part of MITER Brands), and the CGI lines were sunset for new sales in October 2025 — the Sentinel and Estate lines were discontinued, and the Sparta line was carried forward under the PGT brand as "Sparta by PGT." cgiwindows.com now serves mainly as a legacy support and document portal rather than a sales catalog. If you want a comparable new product, the successor PGT lines are the closest fit, and we can quote those for you.

CGI helped pioneer impact-resistant windows in South Florida in the years after Hurricane Andrew and spent close to three decades as a go-to brand for architects, builders, and homeowners. It was best known for heavy-duty aluminum-framed impact products — the Sentinel, Estate, and Sparta lines — engineered for the Miami-Dade and Broward High-Velocity Hurricane Zone. Those products carried Miami-Dade Notice of Acceptance (NOA) approvals, the stricter approval required in the HVHZ.

Yes. Discontinuing a product line does not change the code status of windows that were already permitted and installed. Your CGI windows were approved and inspected under the Miami-Dade NOA or Florida Product Approval that was in force when they went in, and that approval stays attached to the installation. The legacy CGI NOAs remain valid through their individual expiration dates, and a line being sunset does not retroactively affect anything already built to code.

It should not. Your windstorm-mitigation or impact-glazing insurance credit is based on the approval and the wind-mitigation inspection of the installed product, not on whether the brand is still sold. Your closed permit and inspection records remain on file with the building department exactly as they were. If your insurer ever asks for the product approval documentation, the original CGI NOA numbers still apply, and we can help you locate them.

Often, yes. Armor Pro installed CGI products across South Florida for many years and can assess your existing units for glass replacement, hardware repair, weatherstripping, and operation issues. Because CGI is now a sunset line, some original branded parts can be harder to source, so we confirm parts availability before scheduling — in some cases a compatible equivalent works, and in others full-unit replacement is the more practical fix. We will tell you honestly which path makes sense for your windows.

For new South Florida projects we install current impact-rated lines that meet the same HVHZ standards CGI was built for, including PGT WinGuard and Sparta, ECO Window Systems, and ES Windows. The right choice depends on your frame material, opening sizes, budget, and whether you are in the Miami-Dade/Broward HVHZ or a county under Florida Product Approval. You can explore configurations with our Window and Door Designer and Visualizer, and we confirm exact ratings on the quote.

CGI legacy warranties are honored through PGT's service infrastructure following the acquisition, subject to the original terms and coverage period of your specific purchase. Coverage and what is required to make a claim vary by line and date of purchase, so it is worth keeping your original paperwork. Armor Pro can help you identify which CGI line you have and point you to the right warranty channel; for work outside warranty, we can quote a repair or replacement directly.
