PGT Custom Windows & Doors is America's largest manufacturer of impact-resistant windows and doors, headquartered in Venice, Florida and operating since 1980. PGT was the first manufacturer to develop impact-resistant windows and doors that met Miami-Dade County's hurricane code following Hurricane Andrew, and the company continues to hold more Miami-Dade NOAs than any other fenestration manufacturer.

The PGT catalog spans seven active product lines covering the full residential operation range: the flagship WinGuard line (in both aluminum and vinyl variants), the EnergyVue and ClassicVue vinyl lines, the value-tier Sparta aluminum line (retained from the CGI acquisition), and dedicated commercial product configurations. WinGuard is built with PGT's proprietary Diamond Glass laminated interlayer and SecureConnect reinforced frame connections for the deepest Miami-Dade NOA library in the industry.

It was the first company to develop impact-resistant products that met Miami-Dade County's hurricane code after Hurricane Andrew, and the line is engineered specifically for Florida conditions. PGT is now part of the MITER Brands family, alongside WinDoor, ECO, and NewSouth, but the products are still made in Florida under the PGT name.

PGT's impact lines are — but not every PGT line is impact-rated, so this is the first thing to get straight. The WinGuard Aluminum, WinGuard Vinyl, and Sparta lines carry Miami-Dade Notices of Acceptance and Florida Product Approvals that make them eligible for the High-Velocity Hurricane Zone (Miami-Dade and Broward counties). EnergyVue, ClassicVue Max, and Scout are non-impact lines and cannot be installed in the HVHZ. We confirm the right line and approval for your address and openings on the quote, and we pull the permit with the approval documents on every job.

We install PGT's full residential range: the flagship WinGuard line in both aluminum and vinyl, the value-tier Sparta aluminum impact line, the non-impact EnergyVue vinyl and ClassicVue Max aluminum lines, and the builder-grade Scout aluminum line. We also handle the PGT Commercial storefront system for light-commercial envelopes. WinGuard is PGT's flagship impact-resistant family, sold in both an aluminum and a vinyl version. It's the line that built PGT's reputation in Florida and carries one of the deepest Miami-Dade NOA libraries in the industry, which is what keeps permitting predictable at the counter. WinGuard is glazed with PGT's Diamond Glass laminated impact glass, so the pane holds together when struck rather than shattering open. When people say they want "PGT impact windows," they usually mean WinGuard.

Aluminum frames are narrower and stronger, so they handle larger openings and higher design pressures — better for wide sliding doors, tall glass, and the most exposed coastal walls. Vinyl frames insulate far better and never need paint, so they're the value-and-comfort choice for typical residential replacements. WinGuard comes in both, so a single project can mix aluminum on the oversized openings and vinyl on the rest under one brand. PGT is a strong fit when you want a long, well-recognized approval track record and the broadest impact catalog in Florida, from a single hung up to a 40-foot sliding-glass-door run, all on systems that inspectors see constantly. PGT provides a manufacturer warranty on its products, and the terms differ by line — for example, ClassicVue Max carries a Limited Lifetime Warranty while the impact lines run under PGT's standard limited warranty.
