About the PGT Commercial

PGT Commercial is the line Armor Pro turns to for light-commercial envelopes rather than houses. It is an aluminum impact storefront system: two coordinated window types (the SS 3500 and the slimmer-sightline SS 3520 SLIMFRONT) plus a matching SE 3550 entrance door, all on a shared 1.75 by 5 inch aluminum extrusion. The point of the system is coordination. A mid-rise condo lobby, a hotel ground floor, a school, or an office first- and second-floor envelope can be glazed and doored from one Florida-approved assembly that stays under a single PGT warranty, instead of stitching together a window from one source and a door from another.

The frame depth and the storefront detailing put it in a different category from the residential WinGuard lines, which are built around operable house windows and patio doors. PGT Commercial is fixed-and-entrance glazing sized for foot traffic and building-skin spans on the lower floors.

It is also not a curtain wall. For full-height, multi-story structural glazing a project moves to a true curtain-wall system; PGT Commercial covers the storefront tier beneath that. Armor Pro specs it for ground-and-second-floor commercial work where an impact-rated, Florida-approved storefront and matching door from a single manufacturer is exactly what the envelope needs.

Frequently Asked Questions

PGT Commercial is an aluminum impact storefront system, not a residential window line. It's a coordinated set — two storefront windows (the SS 3500 and the slimmer-sightline SS 3520 SLIMFRONT) and a matching SE 3550 entrance door — all on a shared 1.75 by 5 inch aluminum frame. It's sized for the first- and second-floor envelopes of mid-rise condos, hotels, schools, and offices, so a building's lower-floor glazing and doors come from one Florida-approved assembly under one warranty.

Storefront is a heavier, fixed-glazed aluminum framing system built for the larger spans and foot-traffic doors of commercial ground floors, where a residential operable window would run out of span or rating. The PGT Commercial windows are fixed (non-operable) and the SE 3550 is a pedestrian entrance door, all designed to meet at the mullion for a continuous-sightline elevation. We use this system for light-commercial work rather than houses.

The system is aluminum with laminated impact glass, rated to +90 / -120 psf design pressure across all three products. The storefront windows run under Florida Product Approval FL #46559 and the entrance door under FL #331. One important caveat: PGT does not publish a Miami-Dade Notice of Acceptance for these storefront products on its approvals page. For a Miami-Dade or Broward job that specifically requires NOA citation, that gap matters — we confirm what your project's specifier will accept before we recommend it, and route to another system if a Dade NOA is mandatory.

The SS 3500 window is sized up to roughly 144 by 144 inches per bay within its frame envelope, and the SLIMFRONT SS 3520 reaches taller panel heights through a stacked mullion configuration for two-story glazing. The SE 3550 entrance door comes single (wide enough for an ADA-compliant clear opening) or as a double leaf. Larger or full-height structural glazing moves to a true curtain-wall system, which is a different category. We size the bays and mullions against the project's wind load and structural drawings.
