About the StormStrong Series

StormStrong is CWS's entry point into impact, a vinyl line for the Florida coastal counties that require impact glazing but sit outside the Miami-Dade and Broward HVHZ. It is deliberately simple: two product families on one vinyl platform, the 6100 single-hung (with an Oriel variant that adds a taller fixed upper sash) and the 6150 picture window, rated to 50 psf design pressure. That covers the bread-and-butter openings of a coastal replacement at the lowest impact price CWS makes.

Armor Pro specs StormStrong on Wind-borne Debris Region addresses where the code calls for impact glass on a budget and the openings are standard single-hung and picture sizes. When a project needs the full operation range, doors, or a Miami-Dade NOA, the step up is Hurricane Guard; StormStrong is the value impact option for the simpler coastal job.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. StormStrong is impact-rated to 50 psf design pressure and carries Florida statewide approval, which covers coastal counties outside the High Velocity Hurricane Zone but not Miami-Dade or Broward. For an HVHZ address we step up to the aluminum Hurricane Guard line. StormStrong is the value impact choice when your county requires impact glass but not the highest pressures.

StormStrong is deliberately narrow: two vinyl families on one extrusion platform, the 6100 single-hung (including an Oriel variant with a taller fixed upper sash) and the 6150 fixed picture window. There is no casement, awning, slider, or door in the line. If your project mixes those styles, we either spec them from another line or move the whole package up to Hurricane Guard so everything matches.

StormStrong is vinyl only, built on a multichambered frame with constant-force stainless balances on the single-hung and a fusion-welded frame on the picture window. Vinyl is a good fit for coastal replacement work where thermal performance and budget matter and the openings are standard sizes. Where a project needs aluminum strength or HVHZ approval, that's Hurricane Guard's role.

StormStrong's impact glass is laminated so the window itself resists wind-borne debris and stays sealed without anyone closing a shutter, which is the convenience advantage during a storm. It still has to meet the design-pressure requirement for your address, and at 50 psf StormStrong is sized for non-HVHZ coastal openings. We confirm that the rating clears your county's code before we order.

Impact glazing is one of the opening-protection features insurers credit on a Florida wind mitigation inspection, and StormStrong's laminated impact glass is built for that purpose. The actual credit depends on your insurer and a completed inspection of the whole home, not just the windows. We can point you to what an inspector looks for, but we don't set the premium.
