Frequently Asked Questions

The 6100 is StormStrong's flagship vinyl impact single-hung, the most common window operation on Florida homes, where the bottom sash raises to ventilate while the upper sash stays fixed. It shares a vinyl extrusion platform with the StormStrong 6150 picture window and an Oriel variant that adds a taller fixed upper sash. We install the 6100 on Florida coastal homes outside the HVHZ counties, and we'll help you confirm it suits each opening at quote.

The 6100 carries LMI (Large Missile Impact) certification, so it is genuine impact glass, but the StormStrong line is not HVHZ-approved and is positioned for Florida coastal counties outside the Miami-Dade and Broward High-Velocity Hurricane Zone. It runs on Florida Product Approvals such as FL17791.R6, not a Miami-Dade NOA. For an opening inside HVHZ jurisdiction, we'd move you to one of CWS's HVHZ-certified impact lines, and we confirm what your address requires before permitting.

The 6100 single-hung is built to a 50 psf design pressure (+50/-50 psf) and installs up to about 53.125 by 76 inches on a 3.25-inch frame depth. Because the design pressure your opening must meet depends on its size and wind exposure, we verify the rating your specific window must reach at quote. We'll make sure the 6100's rating fits your project before we order.

The 6100 comes in White as the standard finish, plus Adobe, Bronze, and a Bronze exterior with White interior option. It also offers a range of grid styles, from 3/4-inch and 1-inch contour to 5/8-inch flat, between-the-glass, and applied grids. We'll show you the finish and grid combinations so the 6100 matches the look you want on your home.

The 6100's standard Glass A package is a 7/8-inch insulated laminated unit with a PVB interlayer, rated at a U-factor of 0.46, SHGC of 0.61, and VT of 0.64; adding grids lowers the SHGC to about 0.55. Low-E coatings are available including the standard Low-E 270 plus Low-E 340 and Low-E 366 for more solar control, and a Sentry Glass Ionoplast interlayer is offered as well. We'll recommend the glass tint that best balances daylight and heat for your home.

Installed pricing for the 6100 depends on the window size, the glass and Low-E package, finish, and the condition of the existing opening, so there is no single price. As your installer, Armor Pro handles measurement, permitting, and code-compliant installation, and the 6100 comes standard with self-locking sash locks, tilt latches, and a BetterVue half screen. Contact us for a free, no-obligation estimate and we'll measure your openings and quote the StormStrong 6100.

No. StormStrong is impact-rated to 50 psf design pressure and carries Florida statewide approval, which covers coastal counties outside the High Velocity Hurricane Zone but not Miami-Dade or Broward. For an HVHZ address we step up to the aluminum Hurricane Guard line. StormStrong is the value impact choice when your county requires impact glass but not the highest pressures.

StormStrong is deliberately narrow: two vinyl families on one extrusion platform, the 6100 single-hung (including an Oriel variant with a taller fixed upper sash) and the 6150 fixed picture window. There is no casement, awning, slider, or door in the line. If your project mixes those styles, we either spec them from another line or move the whole package up to Hurricane Guard so everything matches.

CWS (Custom Window Systems) is a Florida manufacturer founded in 1986 and headquartered in Ocala, with additional plants in Miami, Medley, and Jacksonville totaling more than 700,000 square feet. Because the line is engineered and built in Florida around the state's hurricane code, the products are designed for our climate rather than adapted to it. We install and service CWS products throughout South Florida.
