Impact protection, built for South Florida

The MG-5000 is Mr Glass's impact storefront, a window wall for commercial HVHZ envelopes. Panels reach 84 by 180 inches and the system is LMI impact-rated to 130 psf in both directions, which puts it on retail, hospitality, and mixed-use buildings where the ground-floor skin is mostly glass and has to meet Miami-Dade. As a window wall it spans the openings between floors and structure on the lower levels rather than acting as a full structural curtain wall.

Armor Pro engages the MG-5000 on commercial and mixed-use projects that need a Florida-approved impact storefront at high design pressure. For full-height, floor-to-floor structural glazing the project steps up to the MG-7000 curtain wall; the MG-5000 is the storefront tier for the commercial ground-floor envelope.

Frequently Asked Questions

The MG-5000 is Mr Glass's impact-resistant aluminum storefront wall, or window wall, for commercial HVHZ envelopes. We install it on retail, hospitality, and mixed-use buildings where the ground-floor skin is mostly glass and has to meet South Florida code. As a window wall, it spans the openings between floors and structure on the lower levels rather than acting as a full structural curtain wall.

Yes. The MG-5000 is a large-missile impact (LMI) system rated to 130 psf positive and negative design pressure for commercial HVHZ applications. It carries Florida Product Approval FL27000.R3. We'll confirm the applicable approval and rating for your specific building and opening at quote.

The MG-5000 reaches up to 84 by 180 inches in a single jumbo panel, all at +130/-130 psf design pressure. In a multi-unit storefront wall configuration, individual units run up to 60 by 144 inches, also at +130/-130 psf. We'll determine the right panel layout and confirm the rating when we measure for your project.

The MG-5000 is the storefront tier for the commercial ground-floor envelope, spanning the openings between floors and structure on the lower levels. For full-height, floor-to-floor structural glazing, the project steps up to the Mr Glass MG-7000 curtain wall. We help match the right system to the building's structure and design-pressure needs.

The MG-5000 uses a laminated impact makeup with a SentryGlas (SGP) interlayer between heat-strengthened glass. The 9/16-inch laminated packages run about a U-factor of 1.04 to 1.05, with SHGC ranging from 0.62 on clear glass down to about 0.27 with Solarban SB70 Low-E coatings. Tints include clear, gray, bronze, and Solex green, so we'll help tune light and solar control for the building.

Installed pricing for the MG-5000 depends on the panel layout and sizes, the glass package and tint, the frame finish, and the building's structure and opening conditions. Because this is a commercial impact window wall that can reach 84 by 180 inches per panel, every project is priced individually. Armor Pro provides a free, no-obligation estimate after reviewing the project and measuring the openings.

Mr Glass runs a deep catalog, and we install across most of it. On the residential side that means impact windows in single-hung, horizontal-roller (sliding), fixed picture, and casement and awning styles, plus a full range of doors: entry and outswing doors, architectural pivot doors, and sliding glass doors including the multitrack pocket slider. They also build a commercial line of impact and non-impact storefronts, window walls, curtain walls, glass railings, and aluminum louvers that we handle on light-commercial projects. We help you match the right Mr Glass product to each opening and pull the matching approval for your county.

Most of the line is, but it depends on the specific product. Mr Glass's premium residential windows are dual-certified to both Large Missile Impact (LMI) and Small Missile Impact (SMI), which covers them for high-rise and coastal work anywhere in the High-Velocity Hurricane Zone of Miami-Dade and Broward. Their value-tier windows and all of their doors carry the impact certification needed for the HVHZ as well, and a couple of commercial products (the MG-275 door and MG-4500 storefront) are non-impact and are not used in the wind-borne-debris zone. We confirm the exact product, rating, and approval for your address before we quote and permit.

Curtain wall, storefront, window-wall, and related framing systems for commercial and multi-family buildings, including impact-rated assemblies for the High-Velocity Hurricane Zone. These are engineered, project-specific systems rather than off-the-shelf units.
