Frequently Asked Questions
The MG-5500 Impact Storefront + Door Package is Mr Glass's impact-rated aluminum storefront system. It's glazed with laminated impact glass and engineered for South Florida's hurricane zone.
Yes. The MG-5500 is large-missile impact-rated and holds Florida Product Approval, approved for the High-Velocity Hurricane Zone that covers Miami-Dade and Broward. Its laminated impact glass resists wind-borne debris, so it protects the opening without separate hurricane shutters.
The MG-5500 is engineered to project-specific sizes at a design pressure of +80/-80 psf. Larger sizes carry a lower pressure rating, so the exact maximum for your opening depends on the configuration and glass package — we confirm the rating at measurement.
Standard finishes include Powder Coating Aluminum Finish - AAMA 2604 (standard, 5-year warranty), Powder Coating Aluminum Finish - AAMA 2605 (10-year warranty). Custom colors can usually be ordered — we'll confirm the full palette for the MG-5500 at quote.
Armor Pro installs the MG-5500 Impact Storefront + Door Package throughout South Florida as a licensed, insured contractor. We measure each opening, handle the product-approval paperwork and permitting, install it to spec, and stand behind the workmanship — and the MG-5500 is HVHZ code-compliant when installed to its approval.
Mr Glass runs a deep catalog, and we install across most of it. On the residential side that means impact windows in single-hung, horizontal-roller (sliding), fixed picture, and casement and awning styles, plus a full range of doors: entry and outswing doors, architectural pivot doors, and sliding glass doors including the multitrack pocket slider. They also build a commercial line of impact and non-impact storefronts, window walls, curtain walls, glass railings, and aluminum louvers that we handle on light-commercial projects. We help you match the right Mr Glass product to each opening and pull the matching approval for your county.
Most of the line is, but it depends on the specific product. Mr Glass's premium residential windows are dual-certified to both Large Missile Impact (LMI) and Small Missile Impact (SMI), which covers them for high-rise and coastal work anywhere in the High-Velocity Hurricane Zone of Miami-Dade and Broward. Their value-tier windows and all of their doors carry the impact certification needed for the HVHZ as well, and a couple of commercial products (the MG-275 door and MG-4500 storefront) are non-impact and are not used in the wind-borne-debris zone. We confirm the exact product, rating, and approval for your address before we quote and permit.
Curtain wall, storefront, window-wall, and related framing systems for commercial and multi-family buildings, including impact-rated assemblies for the High-Velocity Hurricane Zone. These are engineered, project-specific systems rather than off-the-shelf units.
Storefront is a non-load-bearing aluminum-and-glass system typically used at ground level (entrances, lobbies). Curtain wall hangs on the building structure and spans multiple floors, carrying its own wind and dead loads. Both are available impact-rated for Florida hurricane requirements.
