WinDoor bi fold image 780x700 WinDoor WinDoor Luxury aluminum impact windows and doors with industry-leading panel sizes and corner configurations. 9 impact models Manufacturing since 2001 Explore WinDoor windows and doors are the luxury tier of the PGT/MITER Brands family, and our installer rating is 4.9/5 for the work they are built for: oversized glass openings on luxury, waterfront, and high-rise projects. The flagship 8100 multi-slide runs on two to five tracks with panels up to 12 feet tall, pockets fully into the wall, turns 90 and 135 degree corners, and carries impact design pressure ratings up to +125/-150 psf. No standard residential line we install matches those numbers. The trade-offs are the ones you would expect at this tier: pricing runs roughly 25-45% above comparable products from mainstream manufacturers, and every unit is made to order, so lead times follow the project rather than a stock schedule.

Across the nine current WinDoor products in our published pricing database, installed retail runs from $2,110 for the pass-through awning window to $47,000 for a fully optioned 8100 multi-slide. That spread tells you what WinDoor is: not a whole-house window brand competing on price per opening, but the product a design calls for when the opening itself is the architecture.

The Luxury Tier of the PGT Family

WinDoor was founded in 2001 in Orlando and builds everything in a 320,000 square foot manufacturing facility there. From the start it positioned itself at the top of the market, and the client list backs that up: Ritz-Carlton, Walt Disney World Resorts, Marriott International, and the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts all sit in its project portfolio.

Since March 2024, WinDoor has been part of MITER Brands, the Koch-backed group that acquired PGT Innovations for $3.1 billion. That puts WinDoor in the same corporate family as PGT, and the family works as a coverage ladder rather than a quality ranking. PGT Sparta PGT Sparta Aluminum Horizontal Roller HR4110A — product render on white background PGT Sparta Aluminum Value-tier aluminum impact line retained from the CGI brand acquisition, sized for budget HVHZ residential. White and Bronze finishes on a 4000-series frame. 5 models in the series Covers Horizontal Roller Window, Fixed Window, Sliding Glass Door, +2 more Explore the Sparta Aluminum covers value-focused projects and PGT WinGuard covers the broad middle of residential work. WinDoor covers the openings the other two are not engineered for: 40-foot glass walls, 12-foot panels, pivot entries, and upper-floor exposures that need design pressures most residential lines never reach.

WinDoor is also the most door-heavy manufacturer we work with; our research puts an estimated 55-60% of its revenue in door products. The windows are strong, but the doors are the reason architects write "WinDoor" into their specs.

The 8100 Multi-Slide: The Flagship

The 8100 aluminum sliding glass door is WinDoor's signature product and one of the highest-performing impact multi-slides sold in Florida. Here are the numbers from WinDoor's current published specifications:

Feature 8100 Specification
Tracks 2, 3, 4, or 5
Panel sizes (max) 60" x 144", 72" x 120", or 84" x 102"
Pocketing Yes, single-direction and bi-parting
Corners 90 and 135 degree with multi-track
Impact design pressure Up to +125/-150 psf
Non-impact design pressure Up to +100/-100 psf
Rollers 3" Delrin, dual-lock system standard
Frame depth 5-1/8" (2-track) to 12-1/4" (5-track)
Florida Product Approval FL 16755

Two of those rows deserve translation. First, panel height: 144 inches is 12 feet, which WinDoor accurately describes as one of the largest certified sliding door panels in the industry. Second, +125/-150 psf: a rating we otherwise see only on flagships like the PGT SGD780. It clears the requirements we calculate for ground-floor and mid-rise openings anywhere in South Florida, including direct-exposure waterfront lots.

The configuration options matter as much as the ratings. A five-track 8100 can stack five panels; pocketing versions disappear into the wall entirely; the corner units meet at 90 or 135 degrees with no fixed post at the junction. This is how a design gets an entire rear elevation of glass that opens, in a High-Velocity Hurricane Zone, without shutters. WinDoor also publishes water ratings by sill height, up to +125.3 psf positive at the 4-1/4 inch sill.

In our pricing database, the 8100 starts at $16,100 installed for the smallest orderable two-panel configuration with impact glass and reaches about $47,000 for large multi-track, pocketing, and corner builds with upgraded glass and finishes. If you are comparing that against a standard impact sliding glass door, you are comparing different products: a typical residential slider replacement is a fraction of that cost because it is a fraction of that opening.

The Rest of the Door Lineup

The door catalog beyond the 8100 covers every architectural door type a luxury project calls for, all in heavy aluminum:

Product Type Max size Impact DP (psf)
9050 Thermally broken terrace door 84-1/2" x 128" (double) +100/-120
FD9950A French door 92" x 120" or 76-5/8" x 144" (double) +70/-80
BF1199A Bifold door Panels 48" x 105" or 35" x 144" +65/-70
PV9998A Pivot door Panels 80" x 120" or 72" x 144" +65/-70
GD9995A Garage door 216" x 192" or 192" x 216", up to 3,000 lbs +55/-65

Sizes and ratings from WinDoor's published product specifications, August 2026.

A few installer notes on this table:

The 9050 terrace door is thermally broken aluminum, which is still uncommon in Florida impact doors. On a waterfront home running heavy air conditioning against summer humidity, the thermal break earns its cost in comfort and condensation control at the frame.

The BF1199A bi fold image 780x700 WinDoor WinDoor BF1199A Bi-Fold Door Aluminum bi-fold door opening through accordion-style panels that fold and stack to one side. LMI for HVHZ installations across South Florida. Impact-rated laminated glass Design pressure +65/-70 psf See bi-fold door details bifold rides on bottom-mounted rollers, so the weight lives in the sill rather than the header. That is the right engineering call for wide openings, and it serves restaurant and storefront work too.

The PV9998A pivot image 780x700 WinDoor WinDoor PV9998A Pivot Door Aluminum pivot door rotating around a vertical axis instead of a side hinge, supporting taller and wider panels than conventional swing geometry allows. HVHZ approved for South Florida Design pressure +60/-75 psf See pivot door details pivot door makes the entrance the statement piece, with panel heights to 12 feet. One thing we always flag in design meetings: WinDoor does not rate this door for water infiltration, so the Florida Building Code requires it to sit under a complying overhang or in a location where water resistance is not required. A pivot entry on an unprotected wall is a callback waiting to happen, so we design around it from day one.

The GD9995A product WinDoor WinDoor GD9995A Impact Garage Door Sectional aluminum impact garage door with up to 9 panel sections at unit sizes of 216 by 192 or 192 by 216 inches. LMI for HVHZ envelope coverage. Impact-rated laminated glass Design pressure +55/-65 psf See garage door details garage door deserves more attention than it gets. It is an impact-rated aluminum and glass garage door available up to 18 feet wide at up to 3,000 pounds, with up to nine panel sections and skinned or glazed panels. We install impact garage doors as part of full-envelope projects, and on modern designs this is the door that makes the front elevation match the glass on the back.

WinDoor Impact Windows: Built for Big Fixed Glass

The window side of the catalog is smaller than the door side, and it is aimed at a specific job: very large, very strong glass.

The 9020 aluminum picture window is the headline. It carries a design pressure rating of +150/-150 psf at sizes up to 72" x 144" or 108" x 96", with HVHZ water performance of 30 psf. That is a fixed lite 6 feet wide and 12 feet tall, rated for the most demanding upper-floor and open-water exposures we calculate. High-rise work can require design pressures 50-100% higher than ground-floor openings on the same building, and the 9020 is one of the few residential-catalog products that answers those numbers without moving to a commercial storefront system.

The GW9994G Envista Exterior WestPalmBeach LivingRoom 1920x600 1 WinDoor WinDoor GW9994G Envista Bay Window Modular pre-glazed aluminum bay window with jamb-and-anchor channel coupling, sightline-matched to the WinDoor Pivot Door. Marketed under the Envista System. HVHZ approved for South Florida Design pressure +90/-90 psf See bay window details Envista is a modular system for bay windows and window walls: pre-glazed units with an anchor-channel coupling, rated to +90/-90 psf at module sizes up to 48" x 120". It matches the sightlines of the pivot door line, which is the kind of detail that matters when a whole elevation is glass.

The pass-through awning window is the niche piece: a gas-spring awning up to 32 square feet, rated +65/-75 psf, built for the kitchen-to-outdoor-bar opening that South Florida outdoor living plans keep asking for.

What We See in the Field

The engineering is honest. The published ratings hold up in the details: stainless roller housings, 3-inch Delrin wheels, dual interlocks, and multipoint locks on the terrace and french doors. When we set an 8100 panel that weighs several hundred pounds and it glides on two fingers, the homeowner understands the price in a way no brochure explains.

Finish depth is real. Eight standard finishes from Bone White to Southbeach Silver, plus woodgrain and two-tone options in the Hazelnut Brown, Mahogany Red, and Walnut Brown range. Two-tone means the exterior can match the architecture while the interior matches the millwork. Mainstream lines make you pick one.

It is a planning product, not a stocking product. Every WinDoor unit is made to order in Orlando. That is how 135-degree pocketing corners happen, and it means delivery follows engineering, shop drawings, and the production queue. We build WinDoor projects around the door schedule, not the other way. If your project needs windows in six weeks, this is not the catalog for that job, and we will tell you so.

Budget honestly. WinDoor prices 25-45% above comparable products from mainstream manufacturers. On the openings only WinDoor can fill, there is no comparable product, so the question is whether the design earns the opening. Where the design calls for standard-size openings, we quote WinGuard PGT WinGuard Aluminum Casement CA740A — product render on white background PGT WinGuard Aluminum Series PGT's flagship aluminum impact platform since 1998, with one of the deepest Miami-Dade NOA libraries in the industry. WinDoor vs. PGT WinGuard: Coverage, Not Ranking

Once a homeowner learns the two brands share a parent, the question becomes: which is better? Wrong question. They cover different openings.

Factor PGT WinGuard WinDoor
Built for Whole-house residential coverage Oversized and architectural openings
Window range Every standard type, aluminum and vinyl Big fixed glass, bay systems, awning
Max fixed-window DP +90/-130 psf (architectural) +150/-150 psf (9020)
Sliding door panels Up to 5'W x 10'H or 4'W x 12'H Up to 12' tall, 5 tracks, corners, pockets
Pivot, bifold, window wall Not in the residential catalog Yes
Price positioning Mid to premium Luxury
Availability Standard production Made to order

On most WinDoor projects we build, the two brands work together: WinGuard single-hungs and casements on the bedrooms and baths, WinDoor on the great room wall, the entry, and the biggest fixed glass. One family, one dealer relationship, each product where its engineering belongs. For the full six-manufacturer picture, see our installer's guide to the best impact window manufacturers.

What WinDoor Costs Installed

These are our installed retail ranges for South Florida projects, from the pricing database we maintain across every product we sell. Low end is the smallest orderable configuration with impact glass; high end reflects large sizes, upgraded glass, and finish options.

Product Installed retail range
8100 multi-slide $16,100 - $47,000
BF1199A bifold door $13,900 - $30,500
GW9994G Envista bay window $12,400 - $23,200
PV9998A pivot door $11,800 - $16,500
GD9995A garage door $8,950 - $27,150
9050 terrace door $5,440 - $9,130
FD9950A french door $5,400 - $11,100
9020 picture window $2,125 - $5,590
Pass-through awning window $2,110 - $5,675

Site conditions move these numbers: high-rise hoisting, structural header work, and stucco restoration on oversized openings are priced per project. The pattern to notice is that the 9020 picture window, the highest-rated product in the catalog, is also among the most affordable entries into the brand. A design that mixes two or three big WinDoor fixed lites with standard windows elsewhere gets the architectural effect without the full-catalog budget.

Approvals and Energy Ratings

Every current WinDoor product carries a statewide Florida Product Approval, and the approval documents reference the TAS 201, 202, and 203 test protocols, the Miami-Dade large-missile standards. The FL numbers are published per product (FL 16755 for the 8100, FL 15709 for the 9020 and Envista, FL 29783 for the 9050 and pivot, FL 40730 for the garage door); you can pull any of them on the Florida Product Approval system, and for HVHZ permitting in Miami-Dade and Broward, your contractor should verify the specific series and configuration against the Miami-Dade Product Control listing as part of the permit package. Approval is by configuration, not by brand, and that check is routine for us.

On energy, WinDoor publishes NFRC-certified ratings; the NFRC Certified Product Directory carries hundreds of WinDoor glazing configurations (375 in the directory snapshot we maintain), so U-factor and SHGC for your exact glass makeup are verifiable before you order, not after. With this much glass area, order the Low-E and insulating options deliberately: on a 500 square foot glass wall, glass selection is the difference between a showpiece and a greenhouse.

Lineup Changes to Know About

MITER has been consolidating catalogs across the family, and WinDoor's changed in late 2025: the Estate product line was retired, including the 360, 410, 365, and 238 Estate window series and the 560 Estate door. The current catalog centers on the products in this review. If you own Estate products, PGT's field service team handles warranty claims and service requests for qualified purchases through June 15, 2026, with warranty coverage applying to products bought before December 15, 2025; details are on windoorinc.com.

For buyers, the practical read is positive: the surviving catalog is the one WinDoor builds best, and it now sits on PGT's service infrastructure, the largest in the state. If you own retired Estate units, get service requests in before the transition date and keep your paperwork.

Which Projects We Spec WinDoor For

  • Waterfront and estate homes with big spans. Any design with a 20 to 40 foot opening to the pool or the water. This is the 8100's home field; nothing else we install does pockets and corners at this rating.
  • Upper-floor and high-rise exposures. When the engineering calls for design pressures beyond standard residential catalogs, the 9020 at +150/-150 psf and the 8100 at +125/-150 psf answer without moving to commercial systems.
  • Modern architectural builds. Pivot entry, bifold to the lanai, window-wall modules, and a glazed aluminum garage door, all from one manufacturer with matching finishes and sightlines.
  • Luxury remodels that mix tiers. WinDoor on the statement openings, PGT WinGuard everywhere else. Most of our WinDoor projects are built exactly this way.

We install products from every major Florida manufacturer and recommend by opening, not by brand loyalty. When the opening is ordinary, we will steer you to a product that costs less. When the opening is the point of the house, this is the catalog we open.

Next Steps

  1. Get a free estimate that prices your large openings in WinDoor alongside standard-line options for the rest of the house, so you can see exactly where the luxury tier earns its cost.
  2. Bring your plans early. Made-to-order products reward early engineering: shop drawings, structural review, and the production schedule all start from the drawing set.
  3. Decide glass deliberately. At WinDoor's glass areas, Low-E and insulating choices change comfort and cooling costs more than on any standard project.
  4. Compare the whole family on our manufacturers page before locking a spec; the right answer on most homes mixes tiers.
