Impact protection, built for South Florida

The Legacy 250 is a thermally-insulated aluminum casement-and-awning window with a clean, modern aesthetic and slim 2-1/2" sightlines that suit both traditional and contemporary homes. Built on a 4-1/2" thermally-broken frame, it accepts 1" to 1-1/16" insulated, 1-11/16" to 1-3/4" double-insulated, and 1-1/16" to 1-5/16" insulated-laminated glass. A Euro-groove channel supports multiple hardware options, including an optional roto operator for ADA compliance, and a nail-fin anchor and stackable modular mullion (compatible with prior-line systems) extend its flexibility. As a Legacy thermal product it is non-missile / non-impact rather than hurricane-rated.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Legacy 250 (LG-250) is a thermally-broken aluminum casement-and-awning window with a clean, modern look and slim 2-1/2-inch sightlines that work in both traditional and contemporary homes. Built on a 4-1/2-inch thermally-broken frame, it is part of ES Windows's Legacy line, which leads on thermal performance and high-end aesthetics. We install it where you want operable ventilation with strong energy efficiency and minimal frame.

The Legacy 250 is part of ES Windows's Legacy line, which is a thermal-performance product rather than a hurricane line, and it carries no HVHZ approval, so we do not install it in the High Velocity Hurricane Zone of Miami-Dade or Broward. Where impact protection is required, ES Windows's Prestige and Elite families carry the missile-impact ratings, and we can quote those instead. We will confirm the exact rating and any laminated-glass options at quote so you know precisely what you are getting.

The Legacy 250 casement is rated to a maximum of 42 by 72 inches, the awning to 72 by 36 inches, and the vertical-lock configuration to 60 by 48 inches, each with a design pressure of +40/-40 psf. We size the unit to your opening and confirm the configuration that fits within these limits when we measure for your quote.

The Legacy 250 carries a U-factor in the 0.38 to 0.44 range, an SHGC range of 0.13 to 0.47, and visible transmittance from 0.21 to 0.51 depending on glass package. Its SB70 #2 double-cavity package with 90% argon (AAMA GW-40) reaches a U-factor of 0.27, and the condensation resistance rating runs 53 to 57. We help you select the glass makeup that balances heat control and daylight for your space.

The Legacy 250 comes in anodized, painted (AAMA 2605), woodgrain, champagne bronze, and white frame finishes, with hardware finishes in black or satin. Its Euro-groove channel supports multiple hardware options, including an optional roto operator for ADA compliance, and it accepts a nail-fin anchor and a stackable modular mullion compatible with prior-line systems. We confirm finish and hardware selections on your estimate.

Installed price depends on the size of the opening, whether you choose the casement, awning, or vertical-lock configuration, the glass package, the finish, and the condition of the existing opening, so there is no flat rate. Optional hardware such as the ADA roto operator and laminated glass also factor in. Armor Pro provides a free estimate so you get exact numbers for your project.

No. Legacy is ES Windows's thermally broken aluminum architectural line, and it is positioned for thermal performance and design rather than storm protection; most of the line carries a non-missile rating and no Miami-Dade NOA. For a project in the High Velocity Hurricane Zone we spec ES Windows's aluminum impact lines (Prestige or Elite) for the openings that need to meet impact code, and reserve Legacy for where its energy and aesthetic strengths fit.

Legacy is built on a fully thermally broken aluminum platform, and the LG-225 fixed and curtain-wall system reaches a U-factor of 0.19 with standard dual-pane argon-filled insulated glass, which is a strong number for an aluminum window. In our climate, solar-heat control (SHGC) usually matters as much as U-factor, so we look at both when deciding where Legacy makes sense versus an impact line.

ES Windows is the residential and light-commercial fenestration brand of Tecnoglass Inc. (NYSE: TGLS), and the products are manufactured at the company's complex in Barranquilla, Colombia. What makes the brand unusual is that the parent makes its own architectural glass and aluminum extrusions and then assembles the finished windows and doors in-house, so a single company stands behind the whole assembly rather than buying glass and frames from outside suppliers. We install and service ES Windows products throughout South Florida.
