About the Legacy Series

Legacy is the ES Windows line for thermal-driven, design-led projects rather than pure storm protection. It is thermally-broken aluminum, and the point is energy performance plus architectural hardware: a 0.19 U-factor on the LG-225, Centor folding gear, concealed pivots, and narrow multi-slide sightlines. Armor Pro would reach for Legacy on high-end residential work where thermal numbers and large glass openings matter; the impact rating is non-missile across most of the line, so for HVHZ storm requirements ES Windows's aluminum impact lines (Prestige, Elite) remain the spec.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. Legacy is ES Windows's thermally broken aluminum architectural line, and it is positioned for thermal performance and design rather than storm protection; most of the line carries a non-missile rating and no Miami-Dade NOA. For a project in the High Velocity Hurricane Zone we spec ES Windows's aluminum impact lines (Prestige or Elite) for the openings that need to meet impact code, and reserve Legacy for where its energy and aesthetic strengths fit.

Legacy is built on a fully thermally broken aluminum platform, and the LG-225 fixed and curtain-wall system reaches a U-factor of 0.19 with standard dual-pane argon-filled insulated glass, which is a strong number for an aluminum window. In our climate, solar-heat control (SHGC) usually matters as much as U-factor, so we look at both when deciding where Legacy makes sense versus an impact line.

Legacy spans fixed and curtain-wall windows (LG-225), casement and awning windows (LG-250), and a set of large-opening doors: folding/bifold (LG-450), swing (LG-525), pivot (LG-550), and multi-slide (LG-850). The doors carry premium hardware such as Centor folding sets and Dr. Hahn and Hager hinges, which is part of the line's high-end, design-led positioning.

We reach for Legacy on high-end residential work where thermal numbers and large glass openings are the priority and the opening is not required to carry an impact rating, or where impact protection is handled by other measures. Because most of the line is non-missile, we are clear with homeowners about where it can and cannot be used under Florida code, and we pair it with impact-rated products where the permit requires them.
