Impact protection, built for South Florida

The Legacy 450 is a thermally-broken aluminum folding/bifold door engineered for high-end residential openings, built on a 4-1/2" frame and offered in E3 and E4 configurations with optimized sightlines and hardware dimensions. It carries premium Centor folding hardware — pivots, flat and semi-offset hinges, and carriages — paired with a Peak-design lever handle and 2- and 3-point multipoint locking. The system accepts 1" insulated, 1-3/16"/1-5/16" insulated-laminated, and up to 1-13/16" double-insulated glass, with an optional ADA threshold (non-water-resistant) and the ability to stack with the Legacy 225. Its impact rating is non-missile (NI); Legacy is a thermal rather than hurricane line.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Legacy 450 (LG-450) is a thermally-broken aluminum folding/bifold door engineered for high-end residential openings, built on a 4-1/2-inch frame and offered in E3 and E4 configurations with optimized sightlines. It folds panels back to open up a wall to the outdoors, and it is part of ES Windows's Legacy line, which leads on thermal performance and premium hardware. We install it where homeowners want a wide, openable glass wall connecting indoor and outdoor space.

No. The Legacy 450 has a non-missile (NI) impact rating and is not HVHZ approved, because Legacy is a thermal-performance line rather than a hurricane line. We do not install it in the High Velocity Hurricane Zone of Miami-Dade or Broward. If you need an impact-rated large opening, ES Windows's Prestige and Elite families carry the missile-impact ratings, and we can quote an impact alternative; we will confirm the rating at quote.

The Legacy 450 carries premium Centor folding hardware, available in E3 and E4 configurations, including pivots, flat and semi-offset hinges, and carriages. It pairs with a Peak-design lever handle and your choice of 2-point or 3-point multipoint locking. We help you select the E3 or E4 setup and locking option that best fits your opening.

The Legacy 450 carries a U-factor in the 0.37 to 0.42 range, an SHGC range of 0.11 to 0.42, and visible transmittance from 0.18 to 0.46 depending on glass. With 1-inch insulating glass it rates U 0.42, SHGC 0.42, VT 0.46, and CR 44; adding grids lowers SHGC to 0.36 and VT to 0.39. We help you choose the glass package, including insulated-laminated options, that meets your performance goals.

The Legacy 450 accepts 1-inch insulated glass, 1-3/16-inch and 1-5/16-inch insulated-laminated glass, and up to 1-13/16-inch double-insulated glass. Frame finishes include anodized, painted (AAMA 2605), woodgrain, champagne bronze, and white, and an optional ADA threshold (non-water-resistant) is available. The system can also stack with the Legacy 225, and we confirm all selections on your estimate.

Installed price depends on the width and height of the opening, the number of panels and whether you choose the E3 or E4 configuration, the glass package, the finish, and the condition of the existing opening, so there is no flat rate. Large bifold openings and premium Centor hardware mean pricing scales with your specific build. Armor Pro provides a free estimate so you get exact numbers for your project.

No. Legacy is ES Windows's thermally broken aluminum architectural line, and it is positioned for thermal performance and design rather than storm protection; most of the line carries a non-missile rating and no Miami-Dade NOA. For a project in the High Velocity Hurricane Zone we spec ES Windows's aluminum impact lines (Prestige or Elite) for the openings that need to meet impact code, and reserve Legacy for where its energy and aesthetic strengths fit.

Legacy is built on a fully thermally broken aluminum platform, and the LG-225 fixed and curtain-wall system reaches a U-factor of 0.19 with standard dual-pane argon-filled insulated glass, which is a strong number for an aluminum window. In our climate, solar-heat control (SHGC) usually matters as much as U-factor, so we look at both when deciding where Legacy makes sense versus an impact line.

ES Windows is the residential and light-commercial fenestration brand of Tecnoglass Inc. (NYSE: TGLS), and the products are manufactured at the company's complex in Barranquilla, Colombia. What makes the brand unusual is that the parent makes its own architectural glass and aluminum extrusions and then assembles the finished windows and doors in-house, so a single company stands behind the whole assembly rather than buying glass and frames from outside suppliers. We install and service ES Windows products throughout South Florida.
