Frequently Asked Questions

The Fortify 380 Standard is CWS's aluminum non-impact patio slider, available in 2-, 3-, and 4-panel configurations on a block frame suited to new construction or replacement. We install it on coastal Florida patio openings where high design-pressure performance and the aluminum corrosion package matter but impact glass is optional. It's the right pick when a shutter is already part of the plan for storm protection.

The 380 Standard is offered in 2-, 3-, and 4-panel layouts, so you can match a small patio door or a wide multi-panel opening. It builds from a minimum of 36 by 36 inches up to a maximum of 243.25 by 96 inches, which covers openings a little over 20 feet wide. We measure your opening and confirm the configuration and buildable size with CWS before ordering.

The Fortify 380 Standard carries a design pressure of +40/-77 psf, which describes the wind load it is engineered to withstand. For wider openings that need higher pressure capacity, CWS also makes a steel-reinforced version of the 380. We confirm the exact rating that applies to your size at quote.

No, the 380 Standard is a non-impact aluminum slider and is not impact rated by itself. It is HVHZ-eligible when paired with hurricane protection shutters, which satisfies the opening-protection requirement in Wind-borne Debris Region counties using a shutter rather than laminated glass. If you want a door that carries impact protection on its own, we install CWS's Hurricane Guard impact sliders instead and will confirm the right product for your jurisdiction at quote.

The 380 Standard comes in a White (standard) or Bronze frame finish. Glass options include Low-E 270 (standard), Low-E 366, tempered glass, bronze-tinted, and gray-tinted, and hardware is stainless steel in either White or Black. It comes with a flat screen as standard, and we'll help you match the finish and glass to your home when we quote.

Installed price depends on whether you choose a 2-, 3-, or 4-panel layout, the overall size, the glass package, and the condition of the existing opening, so we don't quote a flat price. The number of panels and the width are usually the biggest cost drivers on a patio slider. Armor Pro gives a free, no-obligation estimate after measuring your opening.

No. Fortify is aluminum non-impact, engineered for coastal addresses that need high design-pressure performance and corrosion resistance but where the code does not actually require impact glass. It is the step between Comfort Shield vinyl non-impact and the impact Hurricane Guard line. If your opening must carry impact glazing on its own, we'd move you to Hurricane Guard instead.

Only in a limited way. The 380 sliding glass door is HVHZ-eligible when it is paired with hurricane shutters, which satisfy the opening-protection requirement in place of impact glass. The Fortify windows are not HVHZ products. So in Miami-Dade or Broward, Fortify only works on a shuttered door application, and we confirm that path before specifying it.

CWS (Custom Window Systems) is a Florida manufacturer founded in 1986 and headquartered in Ocala, with additional plants in Miami, Medley, and Jacksonville totaling more than 700,000 square feet. Because the line is engineered and built in Florida around the state's hurricane code, the products are designed for our climate rather than adapted to it. We install and service CWS products throughout South Florida.
