Frequently Asked Questions

The ES-V550 is an Elite uPVC top-hinged projecting awning window, so it swings outward from the top and lets you keep it open for ventilation even during rain. That makes it a good fit for bathrooms, kitchens, and high or hard-to-reach openings where you want airflow without water coming in. We typically install it where homeowners want safe, weather-tolerant ventilation paired with the thermal and acoustic performance of a reinforced vinyl frame.

No. The ES-V550 is a non-impact (NI) window and is not approved for the High Velocity Hurricane Zone that covers Miami-Dade and Broward counties. If you need an impact-rated, HVHZ-approved opening, we'll steer you toward one of ES Windows's impact lines instead, and we'll confirm the correct approval for your address at the time we quote.

The ES-V550 Project Out (Awning) configuration ranges from a minimum of 16 by 16 inches up to a maximum of 42 by 42 inches, and it carries a design pressure of +60/-60 psf. The right size and DP for your project depend on the wind zone and the specific opening, so we'll verify the rating against your plans when we measure and quote.

The ES-V550 accepts 7/16-inch laminated glass as well as 1-inch insulating and insulating-laminated packages, with a U-factor as low as 0.78 across the lineup. For solar control, options range from a clear laminated build at SHGC 0.52 down to a gray-on-gray laminated package at SHGC 0.33 and an SB70 low-E build at SHGC 0.24, so you can tune heat gain to the room's exposure. We'll help you match the glass package to each elevation when we put together your estimate.

The ES-V550 comes in three finishes: white as standard, plus tan and clay. It's also offered in three frame types, flush, flange, and fin, which lets us match the install detail to your wall and rough opening. The frame is aluminum-reinforced uPVC and ships pre-assembled and pre-glazed, and we'll recommend the finish and frame style that suit your home during the consultation.

We don't quote a flat price because the installed cost of an ES-V550 depends on the window size, the glass package you choose, the frame type, and the condition of the existing opening. Since this is a non-impact window, the appropriate application and any code requirements for your location also factor in. Armor Pro provides a free, in-person estimate so you get an accurate number for your specific project.

ES Windows is the residential and light-commercial fenestration brand of Tecnoglass Inc. (NYSE: TGLS), and the products are manufactured at the company's complex in Barranquilla, Colombia. What makes the brand unusual is that the parent makes its own architectural glass and aluminum extrusions and then assembles the finished windows and doors in-house, so a single company stands behind the whole assembly rather than buying glass and frames from outside suppliers. We install and service ES Windows products throughout South Florida.

ES Windows is the fenestration brand; Tecnoglass Inc. is the publicly traded parent that owns it and consolidates the glass-making, aluminum-extrusion (Alutions), and window-assembly operations under one roof. For a homeowner the practical takeaway is that a large, publicly accountable manufacturer stands behind the warranty and the product. As your installer, we handle the order, the permit, and the installation regardless of the corporate structure.

Both crank open with a handle instead of sliding. A casement is hinged on the side and swings out like a door; an awning is hinged at the top and opens outward from the bottom, so it sheds rain and can stay open in a light shower. Crank windows seal tightly when closed, which makes them strong performers for energy and weather resistance.
