Impact protection, built for South Florida

The EAS 5000 is the aluminum impact French door in the line, a heavy-walled hinged door for residential entrances and patios. It is rated to 100 psf in a 3-by-8-foot single-panel configuration with a sill riser, and to 75 psf as a 6-by-8-foot double pair, LMI impact-rated to Windzone 4. The hardware is built for the climate and for security: a multi-point lock, a double-throw bolt, and high-mil weather stripping, with an optional ADA-compliant sill for accessible entries.

Armor Pro specs the 5000 where an opening wants the swing and symmetry of a French pair rather than a slider, and the project needs it HVHZ-rated. For a wide patio that should slide, the EAS aluminum sliders (the 6000, 7000, or FD 8100) cover it; the 5000 is the hinged impact entrance in the aluminum door line.

Frequently Asked Questions

We spec the EAS 5000 where an opening wants the swing and symmetry of a hinged French pair rather than a slider, and the project still needs to be HVHZ-rated. It's the aluminum impact French door in the EAS line, built heavy-walled for residential entrances and patios. If you'd rather the patio slide, the EAS aluminum sliders (the 6000, 7000, or FD 8100) cover that, but the 5000 is the hinged impact entrance.

The EAS 5000 is rated to +100/-100 psf as a single panel up to 39 by about 97 inches with a sill riser, and to +75/-75 psf as a 6-by-8-foot double pair up to 75 inches wide. There's also a single door with sidelight and transom configuration up to 111 by 121 inches at +80/-80 psf. It's LMI impact-rated to Windzone 4, and we'll confirm the configuration and design pressure your opening requires at quote.

The EAS 5000 comes standard with a multi-point lock featuring a double-throw bolt and high-quality Interlock locking hardware, which engages the door at several points around the frame rather than just one. It also uses high-mil rubber weather stripping to seal out wind-driven rain, and stainless steel components are available for added corrosion resistance near the coast. The same impact glass that protects against debris adds a layer of forced-entry resistance.

Yes. The EAS 5000 offers an ADA-compliant sill for low clearance, which makes the threshold easier to roll or step over for accessible entries. Note that the highest +100/-100 psf single-door rating uses a 1-1/2 inch sill riser, so there's a trade-off between maximum design pressure and a low threshold. We'll help you balance accessibility against the wind-load rating your opening needs.

With the 1-inch insulated E340 Low-E laminated glass and argon, the EAS 5000 reaches a U-factor of 0.65 and a SHGC as low as 0.15, which rejects a large share of Florida solar heat. The thinner 7/16-inch laminated glass options are also impact-rated but perform closer to a 1.05 U-factor, so we generally recommend the insulated package for comfort and energy savings. We help you match the glass to your exposure and budget.

Installed price depends on whether it's a single or double configuration, whether you add a sidelight and transom, the glass package, the finish, and the condition of the existing opening, so we don't quote a flat number. A double pair with sidelight and transom in insulated glass will cost more than a single door. Armor Pro provides a free, no-obligation estimate after measuring your opening.

Four products on one aluminum extrusion platform: the value-tier 6000 sliding glass door, the multi-track pocketing 7000, the premium dual-tandem-roller FD 8100, and the 5000 French (hinged) door. Building them on a shared platform means a project can keep finish and hardware consistent across every door opening. All four are impact-rated for South Florida.

Yes. Every door in the aluminum line is impact-rated and carries statewide Florida Product Approval with an HVHZ-approved designation under the Florida Building Code, the certification required for the High-Velocity Hurricane Zone. EAS uses the FBC approval route rather than a separate Miami-Dade NOA; that FBC HVHZ approval is accepted in Miami-Dade and Broward. If a project's spec specifically requires an NOA citation, we will flag it, since EAS does not file those.

Eastern Architectural Systems (EAS) is a Florida manufacturer based in Fort Myers, with roots in the Eastern Metal Supply family. It builds vinyl and aluminum impact-resistant windows and doors for the Florida residential market, and is the maker of the Bertha impact line. EAS has been part of Cornerstone Building Brands since late 2023, though it still operates under its own brand. We install and service EAS products throughout South Florida.
