The FD 8100 is EAS's flagship sliding glass door, the premium aluminum slider Armor Pro installs on the heaviest patio openings in an EAS project. The hardware is the difference: stainless-steel dual tandem rollers on precision-ground bearings, sized to keep large, heavy panels gliding without the drag a lighter roller develops over time. Weep holes keep the track draining in a downpour, and the line supports the widest glass-package range EAS offers (tempered impact, insulated, and insulated impact), so the same door can be tuned for energy or for cost. LMI impact-rated for the HVHZ.

Armor Pro specs the FD 8100 when a patio opening is wide and heavy enough to want the best rollers and the most glass options in the EAS catalog. For a standard or budget slider, the 6000 covers the opening, and the pocketing 7000 is the choice when the panels should disappear into the wall; the FD 8100 is the premium aluminum slider for the demanding opening.

Frequently Asked Questions

The FD 8100 is Eastern Architectural Systems' flagship premium-tier aluminum impact sliding glass door. What sets it apart is the hardware: stainless-steel dual tandem rollers on precision-ground bearings, sized to keep large, heavy panels gliding smoothly without the drag a lighter roller develops over time. We spec the FD 8100 for the heaviest, most demanding patio openings in an EAS project where the best rollers and the widest glass selection matter.

Yes, the FD 8100 carries Large Missile Impact (LMI) certification and is HVHZ-approved for South Florida coastal installations. Its design pressure depends on configuration: a 4-foot impact panel is rated to +100/-110 psf, a 5-foot impact panel and the multi-panel 90/135 corner systems to +60/-60 psf, with the corner systems running up to 8 panels and 384 inches (32 feet) wide. We'll confirm the rating for your exact opening at quote.

Panel height reaches up to 120 inches (10 feet) on the FD 8100, and the bypass 90/135 corner configuration spans up to 384 inches (32 feet) wide across as many as 8 panels. There's also a non-impact bypass option up to 236 inches wide rated to +70/-70 psf, though we typically install the impact version for HVHZ work. We measure your opening and confirm the panel layout and design pressure your project needs.

The FD 8100 supports the widest glass-package range in the EAS sliding-door catalog, spanning single-pane tempered impact, insulated, and insulated-impact builds. The most efficient option, E340 with argon and clear glass, reaches a U-factor of 0.59 with a 0.15 SHGC, while a basic single-glazed clear package sits at U 1.1 with a 0.57 SHGC. That range lets us tune the same door for energy performance or for cost depending on your exposure and budget.

The FD 8100 is offered in White (standard) or Bronze aluminum, with flat muntin, Colonial, Prairie, or Perimeter grids. Standard hardware includes the stainless-steel dual tandem rollers on precision-ground bearings, a dual mortise lock with anti-slam device, adjustable dual cams, an anodized track pan with snap-on cover, snap-on jamb covers, and a 4-inch panel sill, with weep holes in the track for drainage in a downpour. A secondary lock is standard on 84-inch-and-taller panels, and a screen track is available.

We don't quote a flat price because installed cost depends on the width and panel count, the height of the panels, the glass package, and the condition of your opening. The FD 8100 is EAS's premium aluminum slider, the step up from the budget 6000 and the pocketing 7000, so it sits at the top of the aluminum sliding-door line. Armor Pro provides a free, no-obligation estimate after measuring your opening.

Four products on one aluminum extrusion platform: the value-tier 6000 sliding glass door, the multi-track pocketing 7000, the premium dual-tandem-roller FD 8100, and the 5000 French (hinged) door. Building them on a shared platform means a project can keep finish and hardware consistent across every door opening. All four are impact-rated for South Florida.

Yes. Every door in the aluminum line is impact-rated and carries statewide Florida Product Approval with an HVHZ-approved designation under the Florida Building Code, the certification required for the High-Velocity Hurricane Zone. EAS uses the FBC approval route rather than a separate Miami-Dade NOA; that FBC HVHZ approval is accepted in Miami-Dade and Broward. If a project's spec specifically requires an NOA citation, we will flag it, since EAS does not file those.

Eastern Architectural Systems (EAS) is a Florida manufacturer based in Fort Myers, with roots in the Eastern Metal Supply family. It builds vinyl and aluminum impact-resistant windows and doors for the Florida residential market, and is the maker of the Bertha impact line. EAS has been part of Cornerstone Building Brands since late 2023, though it still operates under its own brand. We install and service EAS products throughout South Florida.
