Fortify Series

CWS Fortify 380 Aluminum Sliding Glass Door (Reinforced)

CWS's coastal-rated aluminum non-impact line, engineered for high design pressures.

Steel-tube-reinforced variant of the Fortify aluminum sliding door for higher design pressure on wider configurations.

Design Pressure +40/-77 psf Florida Made in Florida

Built for South Florida homes

The CWS-380 Reinforced is the heavy-duty version of Fortify's aluminum sliding door, with steel-tube reinforcement in the frame for higher design pressure on wider configurations. It is the answer when a coastal opening is large enough that a standard non-impact frame would flex, but the project does not need impact glass. Like the rest of Fortify, it is HVHZ-eligible when paired with hurricane protection shutters, which lets a Wind-borne Debris Region home meet the opening-protection requirement with a shutter instead of laminated glass.

Armor Pro specs the 380 Reinforced on wide coastal patio openings where high design pressure and the corrosion package matter but impact glass is optional and a shutter is in the plan. When an opening must carry impact glass on its own, the move is to the Hurricane Guard CWS-7900 aluminum impact slider; the 380 Reinforced is the high-pressure non-impact slider for the shutter-protected coastal job.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Fortify 380 Reinforced is the heavy-duty version of CWS's aluminum non-impact patio slider, with steel-tube reinforcement built into the frame so it can carry higher design pressure on wider openings without flexing. We spec it on wide coastal patio openings where the engineering calls for the extra stiffness but the project doesn't need impact glass. If a standard frame is adequate for your width, the regular Fortify 380 Standard is the simpler choice, and we'll confirm which one your opening requires at quote.

The 380 Reinforced is built from a minimum of 36 by 36 inches up to a maximum of 243.25 by 96 inches, so it handles very wide patio openings up to a little over 20 feet. The steel-tube reinforcement is exactly what lets it span that width while holding its design pressure. We measure your rough opening and confirm the buildable size with CWS before ordering.

The Fortify 380 Reinforced is rated to a design pressure of +40/-77 psf, which is the high-pressure performance the steel reinforcement is there to deliver on wide configurations. That rating describes the wind load the door is engineered to withstand. We confirm the exact rating that applies to your specific size and configuration when we quote the job.

No, the 380 Reinforced is a non-impact aluminum slider, so it is not impact rated on its own. It is HVHZ-eligible when paired with hurricane protection shutters, which lets a Wind-borne Debris Region home meet the opening-protection requirement using a shutter instead of laminated glass. If you'd rather the door carry impact protection on its own, we install the Hurricane Guard CWS-7900 aluminum impact slider instead, and we'll confirm the right path for your address at quote.

Custom Window Systems builds the 380 Reinforced on an aluminum frame with steel-tube reinforcement so the door can hit higher design pressure across wide configurations that a standard non-impact frame would not handle without flexing. Aluminum also carries the Fortify coastal corrosion package, which matters near salt air. We recommend this model when high pressure and the corrosion package both matter on a large opening and a shutter is already in the plan.

Installed price depends on the size of the opening, how many panels the configuration calls for, the glass package, and the condition of the existing opening, so we don't quote a flat number. Because this is the reinforced, wide-opening model, the size of the door is usually the biggest cost driver. Armor Pro provides a free, no-obligation estimate after we measure your opening.

No. Fortify is aluminum non-impact, engineered for coastal addresses that need high design-pressure performance and corrosion resistance but where the code does not actually require impact glass. It is the step between Comfort Shield vinyl non-impact and the impact Hurricane Guard line. If your opening must carry impact glazing on its own, we'd move you to Hurricane Guard instead.

Only in a limited way. The 380 sliding glass door is HVHZ-eligible when it is paired with hurricane shutters, which satisfy the opening-protection requirement in place of impact glass. The Fortify windows are not HVHZ products. So in Miami-Dade or Broward, Fortify only works on a shuttered door application, and we confirm that path before specifying it.

CWS (Custom Window Systems) is a Florida manufacturer founded in 1986 and headquartered in Ocala, with additional plants in Miami, Medley, and Jacksonville totaling more than 700,000 square feet. Because the line is engineered and built in Florida around the state's hurricane code, the products are designed for our climate rather than adapted to it. We install and service CWS products throughout South Florida.
