Frequently Asked Questions

The CWS-641E is a vinyl impact hinged patio (French) door in the CWS Hurricane Guard line, built for residential patio and lanai openings. It gives you a classic side-hinged French-door look with laminated impact glass, so it suits living-room, dining-room, and lanai walkouts where you want a wide opening and a traditional swing. We install it across South Florida coastal homes.

Yes. The CWS-641E is LMI (Large Missile Impact) rated for Florida coastal installations and carries Florida Product Approval FL14850.R5. It is the impact-rated door, distinct from its non-impact companion the CWS-640D. Since the vinyl Hurricane Guard line carries statewide approval plus selected HVHZ certifications, we'll confirm the approval that applies to your Miami-Dade or Broward opening at quote.

The CWS-641E uses a 1-inch overall insulated unit built from a 3/16-inch tempered outer lite, a 5/16-inch air space, and a 1/2-inch laminated lite with a PVB interlayer plus a 3/16-inch annealed lite. The laminated PVB construction is what holds the glass together under windborne-debris impact. We'll go over the glass details with you when we quote your door.

The CWS-641E French-door configuration runs from about 47.5 by 79.5 inches up to 77 by 96 inches, and the overall system supports widths up to roughly 151.375 inches and heights up to 97 inches. Its configuration design pressure is +60/-60 psf, and the product is structurally rated to +/-70 psf. We size the door to your opening and confirm the final design pressure on your quote.

The CWS-641E is the impact-rated version, while the CWS-640D is its non-impact companion meant for installations outside HVHZ jurisdictions. Both share the same Hurricane Guard French-door platform and similar size ranges, but only the CWS-641E carries the LMI impact rating you need for coastal and hurricane-zone openings. Armor Pro recommends the CWS-641E when impact protection is required and the CWS-640D only where it is not.

Installed pricing for the CWS-641E depends on the door size, glass and hardware choices, and the condition of your existing opening. Armor Pro is your installer, so we handle measurement, permitting, and installation, and we provide a free in-home estimate. Contact us and we'll measure your opening, confirm the impact rating and design pressure, and give you a firm installed price.

The aluminum Hurricane Guard products carry current Miami-Dade NOAs and are HVHZ-eligible end to end, covering single-hung, slider, picture, casement, hinged patio door, and sliding glass door. The vinyl Hurricane Guard products carry Florida statewide approvals with more limited HVHZ coverage. For a Miami-Dade or Broward project we generally spec the aluminum side, and we confirm the exact approval against your opening size before ordering.

Hurricane Guard is unusual in offering both substrates under one name. Aluminum carries the higher design pressures and the full HVHZ approval set, so it's the choice where the span, the pressure, or the HVHZ code demands it. Vinyl runs cooler thermally and lands at a lower price, which suits non-HVHZ openings where budget and energy lead. We can mix both within one house, choosing per opening.

CWS (Custom Window Systems) is a Florida manufacturer founded in 1986 and headquartered in Ocala, with additional plants in Miami, Medley, and Jacksonville totaling more than 700,000 square feet. Because the line is engineered and built in Florida around the state's hurricane code, the products are designed for our climate rather than adapted to it. We install and service CWS products throughout South Florida.
