Frequently Asked Questions

The HR7710A is PGT's WinGuard Aluminum horizontal roller, which opens side-to-side rather than up and down, making it a strong fit for wider residential openings. It comes in 2-lite and 3-lite configurations, so we install it where you want a broad, low window that's easy to slide open. It's built on the WinGuard 7700-series frame with PGT's Diamond Glass impact glazing.

Yes. The HR7710A is LMI (Large Missile Impact) rated and carries Miami-Dade Notice of Acceptance (NOA) 23-0707.06, which is valid through August 23, 2028. That approval clears it for installation throughout the High-Velocity Hurricane Zone in Miami-Dade and Broward. We'll confirm the current NOA and design pressure for your opening at the time of quote.

In its 3-lite configuration, the HR7710A spans up to 120 inches wide by 63 inches tall, while the 2-lite version goes up to 76 by 76 inches. All configurations carry a design pressure rating of +80/-110 psf. We size and configure the unit to your opening and verify the rating before ordering.

The HR7710A uses a 13/16-inch laminated insulating glass unit with packages including Energy Shield, Energy Shield Max, and SolarControl LowE2, with optional argon fill. With those insulated impact packages, U-factors run from about 0.54 to 0.60 and SHGC from 0.19 to 0.33 depending on the package and grids. For South Florida heat, we usually recommend the argon-filled Energy Shield Max or SolarControl LowE2 for the best efficiency.

The HR7710A is offered in White as standard, plus Bronze, Black, and Clear Anodized frame finishes. Standard hardware includes integrated lift rails, deluxe sweep locks, stainless-steel bearing rollers for smooth sliding, and a vent latch, with an optional Window Opening Control Device available. Grid options include a 1-inch raised/flat profile or a 9/16-inch flat grid-between-the-glass style.

Installed pricing for the HR7710A depends on the configuration (2-lite or 3-lite), the size, the glass package you choose, and the condition of your opening. Because these can span up to 120 inches wide, larger openings affect both the unit and the labor. Armor Pro provides a free in-home estimate so you get an accurate number for your project rather than a generic per-window price.

WinGuard Aluminum is PGT's flagship aluminum impact line and runs the full operation range on one extrusion platform: single hung, horizontal roller, casement, awning, fixed picture, architectural shapes, plus sliding glass doors and French doors. Because every style shares the same frame family, a whole house can be specified consistently instead of mixing systems opening by opening. It's been PGT's reference impact-window platform in Florida since 1998.

Yes. Every WinGuard Aluminum product is large-missile impact-rated and eligible for the High-Velocity Hurricane Zone, which covers Miami-Dade and Broward counties. The line carries one of the deepest Miami-Dade NOA libraries in the industry, glazed with PGT's Diamond Glass laminated impact glass. The exact design pressure depends on the size and configuration of each opening, which we confirm against the Florida Building Code on your quote.

PGT has built impact windows and doors in Venice, Florida since 1980 and is the largest impact-window and -door manufacturer in the country. It was the first company to develop impact-resistant products that met Miami-Dade County's hurricane code after Hurricane Andrew, and the line is engineered specifically for Florida conditions. PGT is now part of the MITER Brands family, alongside WinDoor, ECO, and NewSouth, but the products are still made in Florida under the PGT name.
