About the 143 Series Vinyl

The 143 Series is EAS's volume vinyl window family, the everyday line for residential replacement. It is built on a 3-1/4 inch fusion-welded frame with a 0.070-inch wall, thicker than most vinyl windows, which is where EAS's "12 percent thicker" durability pitch comes from. The platform carries all six common operation styles (single hung, double hung, horizontal roller, picture, casement, and awning) on one construction signature.

Its HVHZ posture is split, and that is the thing to know before specifying it: the casement and awning variants carry HVHZ certification under the Bertha Vinyl Impact branding, while the other styles are engineered to a non-HVHZ grade. Armor Pro uses the 143 Series for value vinyl replacement, reaching for the HVHZ-certified casement and awning where the opening calls for them. For a single-hung or roller that must hold a Miami-Dade NOA, the flagship 176 Bertha line is the right EAS choice.

Frequently Asked Questions

The 143 Series is EAS's volume-tier vinyl window family, the everyday line for residential replacement. It is built on the same 3-1/4 inch fusion-welded frame as the flagship Bertha line, with a 0.070 inch wall that EAS markets as about 12 percent thicker than most vinyl windows. It is the broadest line in the catalog, covering six operation styles on one frame platform.

Six: single hung, double hung, horizontal roller, picture, casement, and awning. That is the widest operation coverage in the EAS vinyl catalog, which is why it is the workhorse line for a full-home replacement where you want to keep a consistent frame look across different opening types. Single hung is the volume style; the fixed picture model carries the highest design pressure in the line at 80 psf.

It depends on the style, and this is the key thing to know before specifying the 143 Series. The casement and awning are impact-rated and carry HVHZ approval under the Florida Building Code, marketed as Bertha Vinyl Impact. The single hung, double hung, horizontal roller, and picture models in the 143 line are engineered to a non-HVHZ grade and are not for hurricane-zone openings. For a hurricane-rated single hung, roller, or picture window in vinyl, the 176 Bertha line is the right choice.

Not in vinyl. The 143 double-hung is a non-HVHZ product, and EAS does not make a hurricane-rated double-hung in either of its vinyl lines. If your project needs an impact double-hung, that is an opening we would fill with a different manufacturer on our shelf, and we will tell you so rather than substitute a single-hung without flagging it.

Cost and style breadth. The 143 is EAS's value tier and prices below the Bertha line, and it offers casement, awning, and double-hung styles the 176 does not. The trade-offs are a lower design-pressure ceiling on most styles, no hurricane rating on the hung and roller models, and a frame-only warranty rather than the Bertha's lifetime frame-and-glass coverage. For non-coastal replacements where HVHZ is not required, the 143 is often the sensible pick.

Standard colors are White, Desert Sand, and Bronze, with a Black laminate exterior added on the HVHZ-rated casement and awning. The line carries EAS's lifetime limited warranty on the vinyl frame; unlike the 176 Bertha, the glass is not covered for life. Warranty terms are set by EAS, and we register and support the product as your installer.
