The CWS-496E comes standard in white, with bronze and two dual-color finishes available: Bronze/White and Black/White, so you can match a different color inside and out. The dual finishes let you keep a white interior while running bronze or black on the exterior. We will go over the finish options and pair them with the right handle color when we spec your door.
In its 1-inch insulated configuration (3/16-inch tempered glass, 5/8-inch airspace, 3/16-inch tempered glass), the CWS-496E reaches a U-factor of 0.26 and an SHGC of 0.11, which is a strong combination for blocking both heat loss and solar heat gain. It is offered with Low-E 270 glass standard, plus Low-E 366, Low-E 340, gray-tinted, and tempered options. We help you choose the glass that best controls heat and glare for your exposure.
Each panel of the CWS-496E runs up to about 48.6 inches wide by 93 inches tall, and it is available in OX, XO, OXO, XOX, and four-panel OXXO layouts to span wider openings. The CWS-496E comes standard with a white sliding patio door handle and stainless steel hardware, with bronze and black handles available to match your finish, plus a recessed patio door handle option for a cleaner look. Installed price depends on the overall size, the panel configuration (a two-panel XO is less than a four-panel OXXO), the glass package and finish you choose, and the condition of the existing opening, so there is no single price for the CWS-496E. The aluminum Hurricane Guard products carry current Miami-Dade NOAs and are HVHZ-eligible end to end, covering single-hung, slider, picture, casement, hinged patio door, and sliding glass door. The vinyl Hurricane Guard products carry Florida statewide approvals with more limited HVHZ coverage. For a Miami-Dade or Broward project we generally spec the aluminum side, and we confirm the exact approval against your opening size before ordering.
Hurricane Guard is unusual in offering both substrates under one name. Aluminum carries the higher design pressures and the full HVHZ approval set, so it's the choice where the span, the pressure, or the HVHZ code demands it. Vinyl runs cooler thermally and lands at a lower price, which suits non-HVHZ openings where budget and energy lead. We can mix both within one house, choosing per opening.
