Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. The CWS-7300 is the aluminum impact fixed picture window in the Hurricane Guard line and is Large Missile Impact (LMI) rated for HVHZ use, so we can install it in Miami-Dade and Broward. It carries current Miami-Dade NOAs (including 25-1015.04, good through 2030) along with Florida Product Approval FL46528. We confirm the specific approval that applies to your opening at the time of quote.

Yes. The CWS-7300 offers custom-shape configurations for architectural accent applications, so it works well for arched, angled, or specialty fixed openings, not just rectangles. As a fixed picture window it has no operating sash, which is what allows the larger glass area and the shape flexibility. We will confirm which custom shapes are available for your design when we quote it.

The CWS-7300 direct-set picture configuration runs up to a maximum of 84 by 96 inches, with individual glass panels up to about 48 by 48 inches. It is rated to a design pressure of +78/-68 psf. We verify the size and the design pressure your specific opening and exposure require before installing.

The CWS-7300 uses a laminated impact makeup of 1/8-inch glass, a 0.090-inch Saflex PVB interlayer by Eastman Chemical, and a 1/8-inch annealed or tempered outer lite. The PVB interlayer is what holds the glass together if it is struck, keeping the opening sealed against wind and debris. We can spec it in 5/16-inch or 7/16-inch laminated packages depending on your performance and glass-thickness needs.

The CWS-7300 offers a wide range of laminated glass packages in clear, gray, and bronze tints, including several Low-E options (LoE270, LoE340, LoE366). All packages share a U-factor of 1.06, but the SHGC varies widely with the glass you choose, from about 0.71 on a clear lami down to roughly 0.27 on a LoE340 or LoE366 package, so a Low-E tinted option blocks far more solar heat. We help you pick the glass that balances views, glare, and energy for your exposure.

The installed price depends on the size of the opening, the glass package you choose, whether it is a custom shape, and the condition of the existing opening, so there is no single price for the CWS-7300. A large impact picture window with a premium Low-E laminated package costs more than a small clear-glass unit. Armor Pro provides a free, no-obligation estimate after we measure your opening.

The aluminum Hurricane Guard products carry current Miami-Dade NOAs and are HVHZ-eligible end to end, covering single-hung, slider, picture, casement, hinged patio door, and sliding glass door. The vinyl Hurricane Guard products carry Florida statewide approvals with more limited HVHZ coverage. For a Miami-Dade or Broward project we generally spec the aluminum side, and we confirm the exact approval against your opening size before ordering.

Hurricane Guard is unusual in offering both substrates under one name. Aluminum carries the higher design pressures and the full HVHZ approval set, so it's the choice where the span, the pressure, or the HVHZ code demands it. Vinyl runs cooler thermally and lands at a lower price, which suits non-HVHZ openings where budget and energy lead. We can mix both within one house, choosing per opening.

CWS (Custom Window Systems) is a Florida manufacturer founded in 1986 and headquartered in Ocala, with additional plants in Miami, Medley, and Jacksonville totaling more than 700,000 square feet. Because the line is engineered and built in Florida around the state's hurricane code, the products are designed for our climate rather than adapted to it. We install and service CWS products throughout South Florida.
