Frequently Asked Questions

No. Encompass by Pella is a non-impact, mid-tier vinyl line built for residential replacement outside HVHZ jurisdictions, so it is not approved for Miami-Dade or Broward impact openings. It's a good fit for non-HVHZ Florida homes where impact glazing isn't required. If your opening needs impact protection, we'll steer you to a Pella impact line and confirm the HVHZ approval at your free estimate.

Encompass covers multiple operation styles on a shared vinyl frame platform, including double-hung, single-hung, sliding windows, fixed frame and shapes, and a sliding patio door. The double-hung reaches 48 x 78 inches and the single-hung 48 x 71.5 inches, both at +50/-50 psf design pressure. We'll help you pick the right mix of styles for your home and confirm the configuration when we measure.

The Encompass sliding patio door spans from a minimum of 46.5 x 70.5 inches up to a maximum of 95.5 x 95.5 inches, with a +50/-50 psf design pressure. The double-hung, single-hung, and fixed units also carry +50/-50 psf, while the sliding window is rated +35/-35 psf. Because Encompass is non-impact, it suits non-HVHZ projects, and we'll confirm the size and rating for your opening at quote.

Encompass glass ranges from a U-factor of 0.22 to 0.51 and an SHGC of 0.19 to 0.69. For solar control in South Florida, the 3/4-inch SunDefense Low-E with argon reaches U 0.29 and SHGC 0.21, and the SunDefense+ Low-E upgrade improves the U-factor to 0.25 at the same SHGC of 0.21. We'll match the Low-E package to your home's sun exposure and energy goals.

Encompass comes in White as standard, plus Almond and Fossil frame finishes. Grids are Grilles-Between-the-Glass in 3/4-inch Contour or Prairie profiles with Traditional, Prairie, and Top Row patterns, and units include color-matched hardware with a cam-action lock. Screens come as a standard fiberglass mesh or a full screen, and we'll confirm the available combinations for your order.

Installed pricing on Encompass depends on the window or door size, the glass package you select, and the condition of each opening, so there's no single per-unit price. As Pella's mid-tier vinyl line, it sits between the entry 150 Series and the premium 250 Series on price. Armor Pro provides a free, in-person estimate so you get an accurate number for your project.

No. The Pella vinyl stack, Encompass, the 250 Series, and the Lowe's-exclusive 150 Series, are all non-impact and carry no Miami-Dade NOA, so they can't be installed in coastal wind-borne-debris zones without a separate hurricane solution. Pella's impact vinyl is a different line, HurricaneShield. We use the Encompass stack only on inland and non-HVHZ replacement work where the building code does not require impact glazing.

They're a vinyl price ladder for non-impact work. Encompass is the mid-tier value line, the 250 Series steps up to premium vinyl with the widest style menu including a multi-slide patio door family, and the 150 Series is an entry stock line sold exclusively through Lowe's. All three share the same non-impact role; the differences are in glass packages, color options, and the range of styles. We match the tier to your budget and how many configurations the project needs.

Pella Corporation is a family-owned national manufacturer headquartered in Pella, Iowa, founded in 1925 and now spanning more than 20 plants across the country. For the Florida hurricane market the important detail is that Pella's impact lines, HurricaneShield and Defender, are built in Ocala, Florida by Pella's CWS subsidiary, so the storm products are made in-state rather than shipped in. We install and service Pella across South Florida and handle the order, permit, and installation regardless of which plant a given product comes from.
