About the FWI 1000 Series Aluminum

The FWI 1000 Series is the muscle of the EAS catalog, the highest design-pressure aluminum impact window the company makes. On a 3-1/4 inch frame with stainless-steel components and removable operating sashes, the single-hung is rated to 120 psf positive and 150 psf negative, the top of the EAS range, and the horizontal roller extends it to wider XO, OX, and XOX layouts.

Armor Pro reaches for the FWI 1000 when an opening's exposure or height demands more design pressure than the vinyl lines carry: the high-rise face, the corner that takes the full wind load, the coastal elevation rated for the worst case. For standard residential openings where 120/150 psf is more than the job needs, the 176 Bertha vinyl line covers the protection at a lower price; the FWI 1000 is the aluminum option for the highest-pressure openings.

Frequently Asked Questions

The FWI 1000 is EAS's highest-performance aluminum impact window line, the strongest the company makes. It is built on a 3-1/4 inch aluminum frame with stainless-steel components, double-veined felt seals, and removable operating sashes for easy cleaning. It comes as a single hung and as a horizontal roller, including an enhanced HRP roller variant for the most demanding openings.

The single-hung is rated to 120 psf positive and 150 psf negative, the highest design pressure in the entire EAS catalog. The horizontal roller is rated to 100 psf positive and 120 psf negative. Aluminum carries these higher pressures because the extrusion is stiffer than vinyl per inch of frame, which is why we reach for the FWI 1000 on the most exposed elevations and tall or wide openings.

Yes. The FWI 1000 is impact-rated and carries statewide Florida Product Approval with an HVHZ-approved designation under the Florida Building Code, the level required for the High-Velocity Hurricane Zone. As with the rest of the EAS catalog, it is approved through the FBC route rather than a separate Miami-Dade NOA, which is accepted in Miami-Dade and Broward. We pull the permit and confirm the rating for your openings.

Choose the FWI 1000 when an opening's exposure or size demands more design pressure than vinyl carries, the corner that takes the full wind load, a high-rise face, a large or tall window, or a worst-case coastal elevation. For standard residential openings where 120/150 psf is more than the job needs, the 176 Bertha vinyl line covers the protection at a lower cost and with better insulation. We match the material to each opening.

The single hung runs up to about 53 by 78 inches; the horizontal roller comes in XO, OX, and XOX layouts with equal (1/3-1/3-1/3) or unequal (1/4-1/2-1/4) sash divisions up to roughly 111 inches wide. Finishes are White and Bronze. Aluminum conducts more heat than vinyl, so an insulated-glass upgrade is the way to improve energy performance on this line; we will spec that where it matters for your exposure and comfort.
